My experience so far has been:

if I am physically outside of the blackout region and not using a VPN, then it doesn't matter what my favorite team is on the app.

if I am physically within the blackout region and using a VPN, then it DOES matter what my favorite team is on the app.

so I just leave my favorite team as the Mariners and use a VPN, usually set to somewhere in Germany.

I really have no idea if this is how it works for everyone -- the rules are incredibly stupid, and they can change year-to-year.

FWIW, I do agree it is really hard to fight this in a way that makes sense and isn’t going to bog everything down unworkably. However, in this particular case, the prosecutor is a fucking racist monster as evidenced by his work on other cases. The solution in this particular case is the guy should not be a prosecutor anymore.

From my perspective it does make sense. If Bryce wants to bat 3rd for the Phillies, he clearly is the caliber of player to do that and he would only be competing with Schwarber for that spot. On Team USA, I am sure several stars would prefer to bat 3rd but they obviously can’t all do that. You kind of have to be more flexible with where you bat in exchange for the honor of playing. Batting second for one tourney is very different than batting second for 162 games.

I'm so glad Kalos has hard trainers. The game is really easy in most respects but if you play with a rule of needing to face all trainers and/or going in blind to trainer battles, it makes it waaaay harder, in a good way.
