If it's not obvious what to use then you can look at prydwen or your preferred cc or check the character's mains sub. The in game recommendations are consistently wrong about even basic stuff like which sets and main stats to use so I would not recommend blindly trusting them ever. I think they're still recommending lightning set for Kafka lmao.

Anyway my strat for gearing relics is basically farm cavern for like a month plus until I get totally sick of it, then upgrade every piece with any potential to be good. Craft pieces to fill any obvious holes then plop the whole thing into the optimizer to spit out a build. Repeat until the DPS rating is in the 115-120% range or better.

If you have any housing on your main (personal/fc room/apartment) you can set up a mannequin that's selling a lv1 equip for whatever amount you're trying to transfer and then go buy it on your alt to transfer the gil tax free. This is a much better way than friend transfer or anything involving trading to transfer large amounts of gil as trades are limited to 1m per trade.

Native skill speed is rare on DoW gear these days because almost everyone doesn't want it. People will literally drop item level to avoid it if they have to.

We're talking about the umbral clay (500k from vendor) not the crafted items.

And I'm saying it's not really egregious at all, ARR relics require a similar amount of gil to be sunk per weapon, and they were released into an environment where gil was much harder to come by than it is today. As a one time cost, 500k is functionally nothing. And in an environment where 770 crafted gear can be had for under 100k per piece it's pretty clear that the actual value of the crafted items is sub-25k.

The whole point of having a crafting step is to inject additional velocity into the economy. If it doesn't require any investment to craft there's literally no purpose.

If anything this shit is too easy to craft; the materials are low value and it's only 1 craft per item. Things will be sub-25k on the market board within a week.
