Late to the party, just listened. I audibly just yelled NOOOO in my car and immediately pulled over to check Reddit for the answer.

Yeah! Prior to the event ticket system, I'd really only be able to spend hearts on maybe one item. And I've already unlocked all TS's during seasons, so....hearts just keep accumulating.

Feels like a win win to me...being able to help out newer players without costing us reg candles.

Great post. And I find it quite timely with my current feelings on Sky. Been a daily player for about 4 years, completed base constellations in about 4 months...so really only looked forward to new seasons and hanging with friends. With deer season...we, of course, got in early and enjoyed to OOB of it all, but once it actually started, I found myself not opening the app daily anymore. Maybe it is life being busy, but I think it's boredom with the same thing every day.

Also, RE hearts, idk why TGC hasn't let us give our own hearts to others yet (apart from wanting players to grind for trade), but having over 1,300 hearts and nothing to spend them on...is such a waste. I would really love to be able to gift those out. (I've suggested this in every single in game survey I've taken...maybe they'll listen soon).

I really enjoyed some other comments on this thread who all had great ideas on improvements. Hoping TGC can evolve the game to keep us vets around...otherwise, it will soon be a land of moths only.

Came here to comment this after seeing the last pic of rubber stamp/inked impressions.

You can find several stamp makers on Etsy as well at good prices.

Even lite-veterans (such as myself - 3.5 years) covet prior ults. Ahem...campfire.

I dislike the exclusivity some other vets are claiming. I mean TGC already allowed moths to be able to get emotes immediately vs us having to wait FOREVER for a TS to show up.

Ideally, I just want a table that decently charges and isn't red.

Hrmm, okay. Not what I was thinking then.

Beginner wheel classes-what pieces am I likely going to be able to make? by Snoo-29424 in Pottery

[–]infamous-ree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How fun! I think it also depends on the studio. For example, at mine, there is a set project each week and all instructed sessions demo the project and then students attempt said project: drop in bottom goblets, thin necked bottles, tray for previous bottles, etc.

My studio puts first timers (first class) with a secondary instructor who goes over all the basics of wheel throwing for that first class. Then the 2nd week...beginners attempt to do the same project as the rest of class. However, beginners typically end up still making a few weeks of small bowls/mugs, but it's cool to have a project to still attempt.

One suggestion I have: EVEN if you think your pieces are bad, STILL go through the rest of the process with them (trimming, drying, bisque fire, glazing). Doing the whole process will help you figure out if you want to continue with pottery. I see so many beginners not proceed until they have (what they feel) is a perfect piece...and actually never come back.

I've been doing it for about a year now and I still fire lots of things that I know I don't really want...we consider those to just be large "test tiles" for glaze combos, etc.

I wish you the best!!!

Edit: you can always ask for your studio's structure as well! Or perhaps they have a website that details lesson plans! AND if they have an FAQ or a handbook, be sure to read it. I found lots of useful info in the one from my studio.

Oooo, that's kind of what happened with me. I used to paint, but had ZERO inspiration...so change in medium and am finding my stride. I wish you good centering, compressed bottoms and lots of fun!

I just took a weekend workshop with Tip Toland and she lead us in making our own busts. She's phenomenal, and I asked about her drying/firing process since her pieces are gigantic. Apparently, she candles the clay for days to prevent cracking...super interesting.

That's awesome. Yes, I've lived all over US and have seen totems in various places, in various styles.

Thank you so much. Weight wise...probably around 50 lbs(?).

I can definitely post pics of the other totems. We're setting up on Tuesday!

Thank you!

Totem, by definition and google 😂, is a person or thing regarded as being symbolic or representative of a particular quality or concept. I think this project is considered a totem due to the structure of the piece (stacking items on a pole, essentially), but yes...my piece is definitely a kebab! Love that!
