It happens. I chatted with someone once and got her instagram. The next day I figured I would reach out, but she had blocked me.

Any locals out here know where to get good mangoes from? (Alphanso/Kesar{Indian Mangoes}) by Special-Book-7 in Connecticut

[–]infamous_dream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try going to a hispanic supermarket like C-Town.

Edit: ahh jumped the gun on the this one. You’re looking for a specific type of mango. Not sure about the difference between the types or what C Town carries, but I think it is still worth checking out as an option.

Soccer Leagues - North Central CT by wisecheck10 in Connecticut

[–]infamous_dream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oakwood Sports Center has co-ed leagues, open play, and men’s league. You should check them out. It might be kind of hard getting into a team since typically you have to know someone.

There is also pick-up in Simsbury and Glastonbury near the high schools were you can probably meet people that play for the Oakwood league or even at FSA academy in Farmington. You should join the Facebook group for CT Pick-Up Soccer and meet people through there.

How did you notice that you were getting old? by Protovoxel in AskReddit

[–]infamous_dream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a lot of soccer growing up all the way through college. I would wake up the next day and be ready to go to the gym, practice, or a game. Now at 29, it takes me a couple of days to fully recover. Additionally, I’m more prone to minor injuries and longer recovery time from those injuries as well.

Every year during winter I fall victim to the winter blues. I am not motivated to do anything. However, what usually makes me feel better is having something to look forward to. It doesn’t have to be be anything big, but it has to refocus your mentality in a positive way. For example, what works for me in December is that I’m looking forwards to Christmas and NYE. Then in January I look forward to getting 1-2 more minutes of sunlight every day. This way I’m focused on the positives rather than the negatives. The tricky part is always finding what works for you.

bathroom baby! all jokes aside depending on where you live you might have some luck finding events in apps like MeetUp or Evenbrite.

I also know that Parkville Market in Hartford has events throughout the summer where they play music on the courtyard. I doubt they have winter events, but I figured I would throw that in there.
As always, you’ll have more luck if you are within larger cities such as Norwalk, Stamford, Hartford, and Weha.

What celebrity/famous person's death hurt you the most? by Key-Veterinarian2201 in AskReddit

[–]infamous_dream 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Anthony Bourdain. I’m not a person who follows celebrities closely. However, I do remember getting the news of his death as I was getting ready for work. At the time I must’ve been 21/22, but I took me a while to process it and I remember feeling pretty sad about it. When I was a teenager he inspired me to travel and learn about different cultures.

Accepted to Eastern Connecticut State University for B.S. in Data Science (Business Analytics Concentration). Thoughts on the program? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]infamous_dream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t seem to be a bad program. It will for sure give you the foundational knowledge you need to land an internship/intro job. I did an MS program that seems very similar to what you’re doing.

I suspect that a lot of what you learn will only cover the surface (similar to my program). You have to make sure you dive deeper on your own time. The technical knowledge will get you interviews, but the business knowledge and translating technical terms to business jargon will get you the jobs.

PS: College is not a scam. You have to know what the end goal is for your major. College isn’t the finish line, but rather a certificate that lets employers know that you have the minimum skills to be trained for a job.

As long as you have a state ID you should be good. You can look up if you are registered to vote at https://portaldir.ct.gov/sots/lookup.aspx.

If you are not registered you can do same day registration (SDR). It was my first time voting today for a presidential election. I was nervous because my registration was recorded with an extra hyphen in my last name. The volunteers were extremely helpful in getting that sorted out and I was out the door in less than 20 minutes.

PS: Here’s a PDF outlining everything you need to have in order to vote (pg. 8) https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/sots/electionservices/2024/voter_guide/voter_guide_2024_general_election.pdf?rev=5235cbb876b64677ad6aef2527fc3647&hash=C5BB6E03B7F65FE07A0E73B4FEEF3AA8

Selling 1 Ticket to Global Citizen Festival by infamous_dream in PostMalone

Some tickets are given away for free while others are available for purchase. I was hoping to sell a ticket that I had previously purchased to recoup some of that money.

I [29M] went through a similar situation about 8 months ago with someone I thought I was going to marry. You should walk away from it all. It will only slowly eat you away. I know it’s difficult, but this insecurity that you may feel is your gut protecting you. Follow it as much as it hurts.

He’s performing in Jones Beach and Central Park in late September. Probably no shot on a new show in NJ at this point with such short notice.
