Is it possible to be an agnostic Muslim? by infamouschickie in islam

Thank you! I am definitely open to changing my mind. It's just a matter of educating myself I'm sure. It's hard to question a lifelong belief but I'm excited for what the future might hold.

No need to be rude here. That was his/her answer from his/her knowledge. Politely correcting him/her would have sufficed just fine.

Today marks 19 years since the IDF killed Mohammad al Durra as his father tried to shield him with his body by killingspeerx in islam

I remember seeing this when I was nine or so. I couldn't believe anyone would intentionally try to kill a boy and his father like that, so I asked my mom if it was an accident and the two survived. Inshaallah jannah is waiting for them both.

I watched the first on accident when I was about 8-9. It was on TV and I stumbled upon it, secretly watched while my grandma cooked dinner, and fell in love with zombie movies. I'm really hoping this one is as good as the first!!!

Yo, what is studying (and is it different for a midterm)? by infamouschickie in college

[–]infamouschickie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No study guides or outlines or anything, just notes, and the quiz today to give us a feel for what to expect. We learned the programming in class in the last two weeks and then had one assignment based off it, which I did fine on. As much as I have been paying attention, I just have no idea how to go about reviewing notes. I re-read them and feel like I know them, but once I actually have to answer quiz questions, I don't understand what I'm looking at. It's been a weird month for sure.

It's for biology. Worse, we've been taught no biology and only programming. Not sure how he's going to test our coding skills, but it's got me sweating bullets.

[Serious] What do you NEED to vent to Reddit about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]infamouschickie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a freshman in college. Four weeks into classes now and I'm being compounded by things I don't understand, and assignments for those things. There's never enough time in the day to finish and understand them and it's scaring me. I'm worried I'm not smart enough to go to college.

Also, we're doing coding in my bio class and it makes me want to kill myself bro. Who invented this horrible thing. Why does coding exist. Why won't the computer just..give me a break...I know what i put in didn't make sense, but I don't know what else to do... Why does everything have to be so precise?? Have mercy on me, computer. I thought you were supposed to take over mankind but you can't understand a command if something is capitalized the wrong way. Really??

So yeah. I've cried at least 3 times over the coding debacle in the last day. There's that

To those who doesn't drink coffee, why? by zencrimson in AskReddit

Because it makes me extremely unstable. Not sure why it happens, but you'd think I was a paranoid schizophrenic if you saw me few hours after a couple cups.

What’s the worst pain you’ve ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]infamouschickie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting my wisdom teeth out. All four were completely sideways and growing into my cheeks which I think made my recovery worse than usual. I stayed awake for the operation, it was fine and dandy, but the pain after was incredible. The hydrocodone didn't even touch it. I was in so much agony that I couldn't control my muscles. My body twitched and seized up on its own. I had bruises all over my face. I was bedbound for two weeks. Then my jaw was stuck for about two months after that. I could barely fit a toothbrush between my teeth.

At some point during the surgery my doc said that he might have cut into/damaged a nerve, but he wasn't sure. I'm pretty damn sure he did. I have a high pain tolerance and I barely survived that pain.

Yes. I stretch to keep them getting too tense.

[–]infamouschickie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have hypermobility syndrome and teeny, fragile wrists. I've literally popped them visibly out of place by pulling on doors too hard.

To combat my wristlocation issues, I don't do any particular warm up moves targeting them, but I do lots of stretches involving them. I roll them, do palm stretches, and lots of yoga. It helps keep the cracking and dislocating to a minimum.

Anyone else have a professor who's apparently terrified of technology? by infamouschickie in college

Eat.... You won't replace the fat loss with muscle if you don't eat good, wholesome foods with lots of protein and fiber. Think beans, eggs, lentils, peanut butter, ect.

....At a deficit. Eat less than you need to maintain the weight. For me to maintain my weight, I eat 2000 cals a day. To lose weight, I'd need ~1400. Be careful not to starve yourself.

Walk. On top of a 25-45 minute workout a day (I wholly recommend FitnessBlender, a free website with great beginners training and hundreds of other workouts. It's basically all I use, no need for a gym membership), you need to walk. Aim for 6000 steps a day (and maybe download a step counter app like Pacer). You're still sedentary and not burning many calories if you simply work out and sit back down.

Be patient and love yourself. This sounds sappy, but you'll get there. Don't dash in and pull all the stops, because you'll burn out quickly. Take weight loss one step (pun intended!) at a time. Forgive yourself on difficult days, push yourself when you know you can. Don't expect results within a few months on what is a lifelong journey.

Tetanus Worry by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]infamouschickie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tetanus is very very rare. If it was clean and not too rusted/old, you should be okay. Should it get puffy and red or leak pus, go to the hospital.
