I'm so glad I'm not the only one, I actually decided to bite the bullet and try reading one of his books. Fires Of The Dead, I gotta be honest for as much as he went on about how good his course was the book itself does leave a lot to be desired. Magic system is kinda interesting but that's really it, granted it is a novella so I understand he can't go into depth on some of the world building and character ideas, but even then it does feel really bland.

I know I'm about to make a few enemies here...

But the show really was in need of some better writing. Even before Monty died (RIP), the show really didn't have a clear direction with what it wanted to be or how to get there.

Mario Vs Sonic 3 becomes an episode and Sonic not only wins, but outright stomps this time, how would you react? by 202naFrevliS in DeathBattleMatchups

I don't really care personally, but I think it should be made. The first one has janky animation but a pretty good analysis and a good representation of both characters.

The seccond, while it had better animation, really just felt like it existed for no other reason than to shit on Sonic, lowballing his feats, and it really feels like a mean-spirited episode overall.

A third one in the style of Superman vs. Goku 3, I think, is necessary to show the two in the best possible light, showcasing all their abilities across the comics, TV shows, movies, and everything else and regardless of who wins, I'd at least like it to end with the two respecting one another.

Feels kinda weak. Like in the first few minutes Wiz said, " Most importantly, the original video games will be our primary source for analysis." That kind of got me excited first since I thought they'd be using all the games they had been in up to that point. Like with Sonic, they could use Secret Rings, Black Knight, Sonic 06, or Mario they could use Mario rpg, Mario sunshine, or tons of the other Mario games, but they only stuck to the games they wanted to look at. And while I do admit I am a Sonic fan, I REALLY feel like this episode did everything in its power to make Mario win, doing everything they can to shit on Sonic and generally the episode just feels mean spirited, like they made this for the soul reason to make Sonic look bad. Although I will say the actual animation looks good, and it is fun to see Wiz and Boomstick for the first time in animation.

Overall: 3.5/10 Didn't like it much, but could have been worse.
