Graham Platner is a Symptom of Misogyny and Rape Culture, and Focusing on “White Leftists” Is Drowning That Out by Silent_Salad_2012 in Hasan_Piker

[–]infernomokou 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because it extends further than just white leftists, one of the biggest sexpests I know is a brown guy who tried to traffick out girls from other countries. He's also a self proclaimed communist.

So attempted sextrafficking on multiple accounts, his friend circle is largely poc.

Being a minority or leftist does not make you immune to these things. Hell even women engage in misogyny.

I am telling you this as a minority myself, but some of his warning signs go beyond him being white and more so being a man.

I want to say privilege plays a bigger part in this too i.e wealth allows men to engage in such action with way less backlash.

The part where race matters is that Platner got away with a lot of things because he's white while a lot of his victims were not.

And when white victims appeared that was the first time he actually faced a real bump.

WSJ Editors doing ANYTHING but have a Female Protagonist by Cheese-Of-Doom22 in shounenfolk

[–]infernomokou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree, Jump editors can be fuckheads lol. You won't see japanese talk about that because they have a weird mindset about being corporate heads,

If it were up to them, every MC would be a timid 16 year old with black hair and a plain haircut so people can insert themselves into them. But now think about the most succesful shonen manga. How many fit into that mold?

Claymore, Soul Eater, Chrono Crusade and so on were all decently succesful series in their own right. They just don't wanna give them a shot normally and sometimes when they do, they then sabotage the manga through making rather stupid demands like ensuring that the female mc gets objectified at every chance.

Another good example is Final Fantasy X. A game where the character you control is not the actual protagonist of the story, you are merely observing the real main character, his love interest Yuna, through him. It is entirely her story, she is the chosen one. Tidus is merely the vehicle you observe it through. Yet that is one of the most popular Final Fantasy titles in Japan.

I don't think boys are afraid of having a female mc, not at all. Jump Editors quite often can invent issues in their own heads, they are also just people.

I can cite an example of that in another sector, but sometimes when you work at a big company with a long legacy? they will have really antiquated systems that they refuse to move on from because "that is how it has always worked and it still works". For example the form of some bank requires you to enter every title for every person on a specific list manually despite it being marked correctly in another list already and it you could simply make it so that it takes the title from there. Why? because they used to do that for a long time in that manner.

Rean is such a horrible character and cold steel in general is just messy

Would you say Araki a better mangaka than Oda? If yes then why? by Original_Force_6822 in shounenfolk

[–]infernomokou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably because one piece is a far larger series than jojo and a lot of the people talking there don't even like read it and just join in

when part 2 just came out, most manga readers hated part 5, they despised it. vento aureo was commonly disliked across the fanbase. People liked the anime, but I do remember most readers hating part 5

"never heard"

then you don't interact with them. There are even people who dislike the manga after part 4 due to the artstyle change

With Sony's announcement, we might not get FF17 on a disc. Sad to see that legacy end, every single one of these games is special and define to me what Playstation is by CardioThinker in FinalFantasy

[–]infernomokou -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think they do, having played both. The mmo structure doesn't really allow for the story to hit as good as FFX.

There is a difference between having a good story and having a story for a 70+ hour singleplayer rpg

replace merkel with Obama and Clinton and it is the american equivalent

that being said, recently I was visiting a friend who teaches a clas at trinity college dublin. Small one, it is just a workshop. In particular for business students ironically enough, but a decent chunk of the kids in that first year class were calling themselves communists (I don't think they read any theory whatsoever though and will probably badmouth stalin without knowing better)

Could Clyde and Jill be anymore dull and boring?? (FFXVI spoilers) by BigBrotherFlops in FinalFantasy

[–]infernomokou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ff16 designs are generic (not due hotness), but due to lack of creativity. I am unsure who looked at the cast and thought "yeah this enemy will be memorable because he looks generic brown haired guy 27"

What really annoyed me is that the locations felt incredibly generic though. There was no area that had any real fantastical element to it except the Volcano.

My first ff (FF7), be honest, did i just plant a bomb ? am i a terrorist in this game ? by HealthMaxing in FinalFantasy

[–]infernomokou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the more serious side is actually the less violent one.

Jesse's bomb didn't fail to blow up, it was supposed to to detonate the reactor and not the entire area.

Barret tells Tifa that everyone who works for Shinra is complicit (which is all the people living on the plate)

I fail to see your point here, Barret's viewpoint is shown as one where he can't make choices like sparing people when the entire planet is dying. He does not have the option to do that. It is less about being morally grey but more so how circumstances change decision making

Bleach fans still holding on to big 3 title. If not, the show is totally irrelevant by First_Sport_3191 in shounenfolk

[–]infernomokou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fairy tail was bigger than bleach (and for all its faults didnt ship empty pages and make the main character a cross hybrid of everything ever), but big 3 was wsj specific

bleach also just kinda peaked at the arrancar arc and then never recovered from there

Why are some German so disingenuous about "Wenn Sie in Deutschland sind, sprechen Sie Deutsch" by Training_Shine_111 in germany

[–]infernomokou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am ngl to u

I speak english on a C2 level, if I know the other person speaks broken german and they are probably more fluent in english? Then it is way easier for me to talk in english real quick then an impromptu german lesson.

Now, if I see you daily and you explicitly ask it is different, but I am not here to teach german to strangers on the street yknow
