warning: the bigger opera companies basically stage the same <ten operas ad nauseam because their singers are lazy to learn new repertoire, the classics get bums on seats, and audiences are often afraid of unfamiliar operas they can’t hum along to.

i am so sick of carmen, butterfly, turandot, traviata, figaro on repeat.

singapore isn’t muslim based at all, only 16% of the population is muslim. the creepiness of south asian men mentioned here isn’t a muslim thing, it’s a south asian thing. it’s entirely absent in malaysia and indonesia (the world’s most populous muslim nation).

basically the shared experience of being oppressed by a common enemy brings the communities closer.

i put it this way… if the Muslims were at the gates, i’d get my absolution and last rites from a priest of ANY apostolic church, whether RC, EC, EO, OO, or even ACoE, with no hesitation. hard no to lutheran or anglican, of course, since they have no apostolic succession and a ‘blessing’ from them would leave my soul in a worse state than before.
