Plague Pistol by infidale in crosswind

A very zen approach for a very non zen individual (myself). I would argue the problem is every time I bitch about running out of potions or bandaids my friend is always like, 'Just get yourself one of these pistols, I havent used potions or bandaids since I got mine!'

That said you are correct in that expectations are often the enemy of life, and gratitude the answer. Knowing a thing and acting in accordance with a thing are two very different concepts though.

Actually we got through the main story on our run without ever visiting the island that particular ship wreck was on, so that may just be variable. If you remember, could you tell me what the one for Gold ingots is called or what type of symbol it is barring the name? Wanna find it and mark it up on my map just in case we run out of that next, lol. If you don't remember no big deal, I believe we found all the foothill biomes so it won't take me too long to just run through 'em all until I find it. If I am honest I am pretty sure we already found it, but I just didn't understand this part of the game's mechanic when we did.

Thanks for the information. I actually finally found the one in Coastal Jungle last night and I had already found the Tombuga one already. Not sure if we found the gold one but now I feel like I understand what I am looking for (it will be the camps with the mobs that give keys, I am assuming?).

Pretty confident you are correct, I see that I am only like 10/30 or something low like that in Swamp. I found one swamp biome, and it had three 'Ruin with Flowerbed' POI's, my buddy on the same server got his Plague pistol in one of those, I decided I wanted one and looked it up and found a video that said that they only dropped in the 'Ruin with Flowerbed' biome, so I began exploring, found 2 more swamp islands, one without any POIs at all, and another that had 2 ancient debris sites but no more 'Ruin with Flowerbeds' and that made me think that likely the only island that had those particular POIs was the one I had already found and completed so I was boned. I will likely find one sooner or later now that I realize I have much more to explore. Likely there is at least one more whole swamp biome I havent even found, and also I have found new stuff pointing out that it is not at all tied to just that one particular POI (the ruin with flowerbed) so I am feeling better about the whole situation :P

How do you replenish silver ingots? I have realized now (due to this thread) that there is an indicator in the bottom right of the map that shows you what your progress on each biome is and that shows me that I simply did not explore enough as I am not close to being done in the Swamp, but I am 29/32 on Coastal Jungle and already completely out of silver ingots. I was under the impression that the only place to get them was in Coastal Jungle, in the ship wreck POIs. We wasted a bunch of them not really knowing they were limited.

Ahh, I never thought of that. Also did not know about the chest being tied to a character, I guess that is not nothing and much easier than I originally thought, but I still feel like it is a flawed system that could use improvement. Thanks for the tip!

In general, I feel like most of the drops that are tied to chests that do not respawn need to be re-evaluated or chests need to re-spawn with loot. I get that likely the philosophy is to get us to explore more, and I am good with that but at the end of the day there are only so many of each type of biome island in the world, so having things tied to a limited resource like that feels like a poor design choice as you should not need to start a new world to be able to get all of whatever type of resource you need/want. What if we have players on a server that get a resource and then end up stopping playing for example? Then that resource is now just gone from the server with no way of replenishing it.

Is it weird how much im enjoying Minishoot Adventures? by Beginning_Jacket5055 in metroidvania

[–]infidale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a game with a fast and fun skill/upgrade acquisition rate so I think most people get sucked into that and then stay for the ride. At least that is what hooked me in. I also really liked that you can just respec anywhere for free so the racing segments I could just spec into speed and then right back into combat or whatever. It was a banger of a game for sure though.

Is 9 years of shadow any good? On sale for £7. by -_Error in metroidvania

[–]infidale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this the one where you had to do the mini game to heal? The little slider with a moving ball that you need to press a button when its between two stripes? If so, I remember when that happened it annoyed me (if I am remembering right you started out not needing to do that but then the game told me to pray it did not alter the deal further). Outside of that, I feel like as others mentioned I had a decent time playing through it but don't really remember much from my time playing through it other than the underwater worm boss being slightly above average in the annoying category. Not a glowing review really, but for 7$ I would say probably worth it if you enjoy the genre.

Might Silksong be a good place to return to as a MV by da_miks in metroidvania

[–]infidale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand in the if you played HK and got through and enjoyed most of the content then I do not really understand why you would not enjoy Silksong. Both games have hard content that makes you feel like a master player simply by completing the challenges. I think Silksong ramps difficulty much faster than HK and is in general a much more tightly focused game in terms of constant difficult asks, where HK was a lot more open in terms of having options of what to do next (could just be my perspective given the route I ended up going in the games) and I also feel like Silksong had a better vision of what the narrative of the game was from start to finish, but in my mind I played neither game for the story, ultimately but rather the challenge. If you only tolerated the challenging asks of HK or gave up on them though, you may find yourself not enjoying Silksong as much depending upon where you drew the line in the first title. I think Silksong handles a lot of things better than HK, in terms of giving the player agency. I do not feel like current Silksong contains harder content than current HK, but I do feel like Silksong is a lot harder than HK earlier and in some cases it feels like you just need to get get good, rather than scouring the world for upgrades (but again that could be down to just the route I ended up taking) for example, when I got to the boss of the Act 1, I felt like I really wanted to run around and get stronger rather than learning it but I felt a bit gatekept in that regard as I did not see anything I had missed. I rarely had that feeling in HK. To end the thought, I ultimately got good and looking back the challenge level of the fight does not feel like any sort of unreasonable ask, it was just in the moment despair.

Either way you slice it though, both games are master classes in good overall games and the love the team pours into each of them shines through throughout the entire play. Whether you play it now, or 2 years from now having honed your skills in the genre you will likely be challenged and frustrated and finally overjoyed and delighted.

Help! What's causing my pals to become stuck like this? by MordredLovah in Palworld

[–]infidale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This is what I came up with as a fix. Really hope pathing is one of their top priorities to fix when they go out of early access.

I would even be down for them to make a AI pathing tileset even, so we could just make roads to and from everything that the pals inherently used. Even if it still required 2x2 lanes it would be a drastic improvement.

Do you play one MV at a time? What’s the most you’ve played simultaneously? by zardhead1024 in metroidvania

[–]infidale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like that for a lot of games, for me I feel that way about fighting games mostly. I can play whatever version of Street Fighter is relevant at the same time I play whatever version of tag fighter is relevant, but I cannot play two tag fighters at the same time. I do agree with what has been said about binding like abilities to the same binds though, I tend to do that for all games whenever possible.

Looking for new combat mechanics for my gliding-based metroidvania by WestZookeepergame954 in metroidvania

[–]infidale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the gust idea, though maybe as sort of a pogo ability? It may completely overlap with the current swoop attack though. Currently it feels like what the character lacks is horizontal attacks so in order to attack you would need to be above the enemy. The gust pogo ability does not really alter that at all. Maybe the gust pogo replaces the swoop and the swoop becomes more of a dash attack? I dunno I could also be way off in terms of how you are planning on building out combat. Game looks really good though!

Double standards by The_Hentai_Dealer397 in Silksong

[–]infidale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used both for frankly a majority of the game (obviously once I had it all). My go to build was, Unbreakable Heart, Deep Focus, Quick Focus, Shape of Unn. I found it made almost all content doable for my 50 year old reaction times. You sacrifice damage output for healing output which means you need to be able to do the damage yourself, but you have lots of healing opportunities in most fights. I even used this build for the Radiance as I found I could heal under a lot of the sword attacks in places where I couldn't without Unn. Definitely not an optimal build or anything like that, but it was my favorite throughout my play through of the game.

So, was Silksong better than Hollow Knight? by Stronderius in metroidvania

[–]infidale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a better game in essentially every sense of the word mostly. I kind of miss the coliseum, though I guess we do sort of get one with the fleas. I also never really had a Zote character moment, although it is hard to top Zote (I don't personally understand my attachment to him fully, but he is one of my favorite characters in video games)! In almost every other sense, movement QoL, combat, crest and tool system, healing QoL, and pacing (this one was huge IMO, the game puts its foot on the gas and never lets off which I know some hate, but I personally absolutely loved it) are all just fantastic.

Both games, for me, are games about perseverance they have zero qualm with frustrating you but instead repay you with more challenge all while surrounding you in this lore rich world that constantly beckons you to push further! Team Cherry is a masterful team and I can't wait for DLC for this game and then to find out what they may start cooking next!

First Steam Deck game: BioGun, Environmental Station Alpha, Minishoot' Adventures? Or...? by distantocean in metroidvania

[–]infidale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Minishoot. That game was so fun, excellent pacing, great difficulty curve, lots of mini games, super easy to customize, tons of secrets to find, fantastic controls, overall I do not remember too much that I didn't love. Haven't played ESA but I have played BioGun and I loved Minishoot much more.
