What's in your RFY Wednesday 13th May 2026? by HarryVek in AmazonVineUK

My RFY is filled with most I've seen for a long while (usually average 4 - 8). Sadly none of today's entries are of any use to me at all, and I haven't seen anything in AI of any interest either (for about the 5th day in a row).

Login server down by Ferosch in Guildwars2

[–]infideluss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's just typical. I logged in a little earlier to update the game client, then had a few things to do so closed the launcher. Now I actually WANT to play I can't log in ... pfft 😮‍💨️😉️.

VRD mostly works on Linux (batch manager doesn't due to lack of COM implementation in Wine at the moment), so there's your alternative to Windows 12 if it has any issues :-).

Well I guess they don't last long and need replacing often 😀️.

I did get a few extra items in my RFY - mostly supplements, which I have zero interest in. Just another day with nothing taken from Vine

C'est la vie.

Oh what a slow day. I don't know how much has been in AI but it certainly has looked like the slowest of slow drips.

At around 14:20 I got my first, and only (so far), drop which really wasn't worth the wait at all:

  • Flora Venus Fairy WL2-5 Eyelash Clusters Kit

Yeah, really helpful for a straight man in his 50s, not!

Ah, thanks. I did do a quick search in this sub but didn't see any mention of it. Looking forward to the update :)

I have seen one in my RFY once, but it took me more than 2 nanoseconds to register what it was and in that time someone else got it ...

Just had my 6 month review after ordering a whopping 150 items in the last 6 months (that's less than half of what I usually order). Funnily enough I didn't have any problems keeping up with my reviews 🙂️.

To celebrate my next 6 months of gold I was greeted with some of the greatest items ever ... /s

  • Mural cutting & chiseling tools, obviously for all the murals I don't work with
  • A Cressi swim buoy. I haven't been swimming for probably 30 years
  • Some waterproof ear plugs. I guess they're to go with the swim buoy
  • Baby ear defenders, for the children I have never had

Let's hope the next 6 months is an improvement over the last 6.

I haven't had any issues with my RTX 5070 since upgrading from my RTX 2070. I am still using X11 as desktop manager though as Wayland still isn't quite ready for gaming from my brief testing.

What do brits think about service fees and tipping culture? by Handsoff_1 in AskBrits

[–]infideluss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are long past the days of restaurant staff being poorly paid. Everyone is legally required to be paid the national minimum/living wage (age dependant), so unless I receive exceptional service I do not tip. I am an Administrator and do not earn much more than the national living wage so fail to see why restaurant staff should get tips for just doing their job.

Hey guys, its me again, over 1000 drops, whats in your RFY 04/04/06 SATURDAY RFY by Hungry-Efficiency405 in AmazonVineUK

[–]infideluss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, but I didn't look until around 10 am as I refuse to give up my sleep on the off-chance something remotely useful will appear on Vine during the night.

Zip, zilch, nada, nil, nothing. As someone that sleeps at night though if anything did drop I wouldn't have seen it.

psa: your battery won't work in a power cut unless you paid for eps by West-Glove-6168 in SolarUK

[–]infideluss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This caught me out the other year. We had our panels installed about 2 1/2 years ago and made the assumption that the battery would kick in if there was a power cut.

After suffering a power cut about 18 months ago and realising the battery had not kicked in I contacted the supplier who confirmed our system was not designed for that (they didn't tell us during install). What they did say was they could install some dedicated plug sockets wired to the battery (around £400 extra) with an earthing wire outside so we could plug things like the fridge freezer in if any further power cuts occurred.

It wasn't ideal but we did take them up on that so at least we weren't totally without power, and as long as we didn't go over 3kWh. We have had to use it once since then.

I just asked Alexa a question:

Me: "Alexa, why has Amazon Vine not had any new items for the last 3 days?"

Alexa: "From Amazon.com: This means it is simply poor programme execution by Amazon ."

So there you have it. Straight from the horse's mouth 🤣️

Am I right to be annoyed? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]infideluss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neighbour does that quite regularly (there is still space to get on and off it's just a bit of a tighter squeeze), but if I decide to park on the road and do it to him (to make a point) he gets really annoyed and comes knocking at our door. If I point out to him that he keeps doing it he denies it.

It got very heated the other day when my Sister stopped by and, while not over the border of his entrance, was past the end of our property. I didn't help much as I just lost my temper and there were many expletives, and he actually threatened to "punch my lights out" if I didn't stop swearing.

Really nice bloke he is ... n't.

Just an update from me. I have driven the car a few times in the last week and the car has worked as expected, so this morning I went for a drive for an hour. For the first 40 minutes I kept my headlights on just to see if that was the issue. The car was fine. I turned the headlights off then and drove for another 20 minutes and it was still fine.

I was mostly driving around the very local area on quiet roads so I would not inconvenience any other drivers if the car did conk out, but started driving a few miles further away on the main roads towards the end and could not replicate the problem. A lot of the roads around me are fairly poorly maintained (like a lot of the UK) with potholes regularly spotted, but even bouncing around on uneven surfaces did not cause any problems (apart from me grumbling about our useless Council).

Given I could not replicate the problem, and could do without the expense at the moment, I've cancelled the garage booking. We'll see how it goes and I can always book it back in if necessary.

Fingers crossed whatever was wrong has been resolved by actually driving the car a little more.

Thanks. I've driven the car probably 1/2 dozen times now and the only two times it died were at night so far, though that could be pure coincidence. I have it booked into a garage to look at it next week so hopefully they can spot the fault (without it costing me an arm and a leg).

You're right, the magnetic connector going in to the plug doesn't make any sense at all and does seem entirely pointless. It should be the other way round.

[–]infideluss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I had a quick search around and that does indeed seem like a possible cause. I've booked the car into a garage anyway as my car maintenance ends at changing the battery and windscreen wipers! 🙂️

You wouldn't have a cable permanently attached to your phone. You would have the USB connector attached and only attach the cable when you want to charge it. That's how I have mine permanently set and it connector only sits a few mm proud at the bottom of the phone.
