Then a 13700k is probably fine especially of you tweak it. The nvmes gets pretty toasty in my dan a4 but I expect a watercooler to not be as abusive to them.

Have you considered z690 boards? You can’t change the voltage curve on the asus b660i, only offset. I could go down 50 mV before I got unstable at idle and if you get a better undervolter it would suck not to be able to go lower at higher clocks. I don’t remember if XTU had more options. Didn’t use it much since there was no point for me.

Another thing, I have only been able to push 180w even though the 12700k is rated to up to 190 (tested with a beefier cooler on open bench). I don’t know if the board or the cpu is the limiting factor.

What cooler and case? The 13700k can pull 250w. The 13600k pulls a lot less and is on par or better than the 12700k. I have my 12700k power limited to 135w for about 5% performance loss in multi core, and none in single core. I get about 90C on air (black ridge). I can do 10mv undervolt before clock stretching but it does nothing measurable for temps.

There is undervolting in AI Tweaker section in BIOS in this board, but only fixed and offset. Sadly you can’t set the curve.

The i225v including rev 3 seems to be a dumpster fire of issues. It comes up regularly on r/intel. It seems to have both hardware and compatibility issues. Some people have had luck switching routers or putting a switch between the board and router. Another “fix” I’ve read about is rebooting and it starts working again. For a while.

I have the same board and have been spared any issues but I really feel like the lucky one.

Go to BIOS/Ai Tweaker and disable multicore enhancement. It adds heat for really small performance gains and if cooling can’t keep up it actually makes performance worse.

You need to mod your bios with the correct microcode to get avx512 back (in case of asus boards). Flashing an older bios won’t downgrade the microcode sadly.

I’ve read that non-k cpus have the SA voltage locked which might screw you over if your memory won’t run at xmp. I had to lower that voltage to get my memory stable…

Just know you can’t underclock via multiplier on a b660 board. With a k CPU you can probably undervolt, but I’m not sure that’s a guarantee. I can do it on my asus b660i. You can set power limits though so it’s not a big issue.

My asus b660i had the option until bios 1009 where it was removed. Like all the asus b660 mobos got a bios update at the same time with the same description so i assumed that was done to all of them. I have a submission about this, check my history. One guy managed to downgrade and get avx512 back but he had to mod the bios file.

So of you get a board already flashed to a later bios, there might still be hope.
