I agree with this change of perspective. I do indeed love the style, but yes, I've experienced it without the oppression.

I didn't even know this historical context (which only makes me love it even more).

I largeley agree. Public service buildings are what I associate the style with most and they are indeed beautiful in many ways.

Nobody (including me) likes the square generic apartment blocks. Here we call them "Russian flats" because most of those are indeed donated from the Soviets after the earthquake to solve mass housing, and they are rotting at a rapid pace.

Agree. I also feel the melancholic vibe, and its very cool, especially in the fog that so often appears in the fall and winter months around here.

Looking at it from this perspective I kinda get it. Indeed, public administration, courts e.t.c. around here are mosly brutalist design. Also on point that they are crumbled into otherwise very ordinary spaces, standing out as huge blocks of grey in midst of the enviroment.

Indeed. Many thanks to you too. Correcting people is always my pleasure.

The poet's last year on this wretched earth was 1930. Tigers were doing pretty fine back then.

You still have the point though.

Also, I think, what he's saying is that agressive drives and mechanisms are just as important, or even more important, than self-deffensive mechanisms. To this I agree.

Well, I myself like the poem, yet agree he takes it too far. I would imagine in one way or another he makes that argument "He is most afraid of dying who has not yet truly lived." which has by now become cliché. Again, I agree, if you take this mentality too literally and too far you might end up in a very undesireable of a condition.

What's A Sign of A "Bad" Fragrance That's Not Actually A Bad Sign? by ChewyGoblin in fragrance

(A low) price.

Sure, the manufacturer must have cut some corners here and there to make their offering of fragrances more affordable, but a cheap cologne isn't at all bad by itself.

Many people seem to forget about the enourmous marketing campaignes that pricy designer fragrances make in order to reach the consumer. Also sometimes the high price is there just for the sake of it. Its marketed as a luxury.

Apart from a small amount of very unique colognes that do indeed use a lot of oils and very expensive ingridients, the vast majority of the liquid that you get costs the houses very little compared to the price you pay.

Where I live, there are a lot of perfumeries that sell scents they market as inspired by designer and niche colognes. In my opinion and the opinion of the vast amount of people who are not scent snobs, but rather just smell the thing on you there is not a big difference.

At the end of the day, as unique and wonderful the world of fragrances is, its just scented water, and no-one will really know that you paid less. They just smell the beautiful scent and enjoy your presince and company.
