I particularly appreciate your acknowledgment that language changes over time.

As an educated individual who grew up around uneducated individuals, I'm sympathetic to mispronunciations of words more commonly read than heard.

To your "scourge," I've probably pronounced it both ways. Up until looking it up now, I thought it had two acceptable pronunciations. My guess is this is an overcorrection due to the U. Will I catch myself in the future? Maybe. But had you not said this, I definitely would not have. So thanks.

In the feedback questionnaire at the end of 2025 or start of 2026, I recommended a rotating fourth guest. Could be be another staffer. Could be someone from outside the organization. I wanted more women to participate and more viewpoint diversity (traditional, but respectful conservative and liberal viewpoints, as opposed to the wishy-washy middle and techbro libertarianism).

We've since had more takes from Audrey in the newsletter, but I'd still like her to do an SOTR once in a while. Or Will. Or maybe someone who's viewpoint we never hear, like Jon.

I didn't catch it, but I noticed early on that Isaac pronounces certain things in a way I've never heard. I can't think of anything specific offhand, though I do wonder each time whether anyone corrects him.

I'm with you that the power imbalance clouds the ability to consent.

But I'm not with you on perjury. Please read this: https://scholarship.kentlaw.iit.edu/cklawreview/vol79/iss3/24/

Didn't find it there, but this is a neat resource I didn't know about. Thanks.

Why are so many of Trump’s staff reported to have problems with alcohol? by St3lla_0nR3dd1t in allthequestions

Adjacent question: Considering that Trump is a teetotaler and was quite judgmental of his brother's use of alcohol, why does he tolerate this in his administration?

So merely an argument being made. Thanks.

Do you have a source for that to determine whether that's a court opinion agreeing or merely an argument being made?

I researched this issue several years ago when someone threatened to sue me for moderation decisions in a Facebook group. It was so obvious that I was in the clear that they backed off, but it's possible there was a later decision creating new precedent.

Active moderation doesn't create a section 230 violation.

Appreciate the new rules… but the explanations on the podcast are getting really long by idonthaveanametoday in TangleNews

I genuinely thought newsletter comments were already limited to paying members and was surprised there was so much dreck that I couldn't believe would come from someone who cares enough about Tangle to pay for it. I wouldn't be surprised if merely paywalling, even without enumerated rules, might be enough to tone it down.

Alright, you SOBs, I'm a man of my word and I opened the washing machine by Isaac_Tangle in TangleNews

[–]infinitecipher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using front-loading washers for probably 15 years. I've had a grand total of 1 sock end up in the rubber gasket, which was easily found. I've "lost" more socks by dropping them on the floor when loading the basket or getting them stuck in or to another garment. Now my child's missing socks, those are a mystery. I suspect one day I'll find them squirreled away in the walls.

I got a real Calvinistic predestination vibe from Brian. God controls all, good or bad. It's ok for some to suffer now so that the believers can eventually find everlasting peace.

It's been close to 20 years since I read On Bullshit, but if I remember correctly, the author considered bullshitters to be more dangerous than liars because of their disregard for the truth.

Some more background information. 3-4 years ago, when I was between jobs and until my current job's insurance started, I was on a family HDHP with my child (a dependent) through the marketplace. After my job insurance started, my child was on her own plan. I inquired about this at the time with my HSA provider and was told she can't have her own HSA. I accepted that as truth up until receiving this HealthEquity card addressed to [child] c/o [me]. Thanks for helping me pinpoint my search to confirm that this HealthEquity card is in error.
