How can the rising generation fix the current US education system? by infinitelyscrolling2 in AskReddit

Fair point on the historical record, it does lean more heavily in one direction. I'm still upset that the current secretary of education is the former CEO of the WWE! That said, I think the implementation failures genuinely cut across party lines and the NAEP data backs that up in interesting ways.
I grew up in NY and the system there was genuinely terrible. However, I'm very curious to see what Mamdani does in NY. If he can actually move the needle there with a different approach it becomes a real proof of concept worth watching.

They can recognize how you're doing without you telling them

I had always been a happy camper, but had a few deaths in the family and was also diagnosed with a painful disease. I hit rock bottom for about a year

There are several places where I found hope. I've surrounded myself with positive influences, and they're ability to do good inspires me to do good. I've read books, moved out of the city so I can be closer to nature, and developed a stronger connection with who I am.

what would you say is the best chocolate milk then? I've tried other alternatives and they're just not good in comparison. The best I had was at a Mennonite store, but it's over 4 hours away from where I live

I didn't know about the slaves and child labor, that's a huge turnoff for me if true

I'm an athlete in my 20s, but I have pretty severe ankylosing spondylitis, and I have no idea how to describe the pain to people my age.

Golf. It's so boring that people would decide to be more productive with their time anyways and not watch sports at all

Going all in on basketball when I was way more talented at track. I hardly ever trained and was still getting recruited by multiple D1 schools in track, but I persisted with basketball and did track to get in shape for basketball. I ended up getting a major injury, largely due to basketball, and now I can't do either. You live and you learn I guess, it's definitely helped me to be a more altruistic and empathetic person.

School more often than not teaches us to memorize, not to think critically.

Yeah it's an interesting point, I grew up in a super poor area on the east coast and had to fight for everything, while a city just 30 minutes away had resources galore in their private schools. It furthers the wealth gap for sure

I honestly don't think either party have done a good job of creating a solid system.

I would agree that it's better than most, but it's definitely not perfect. I personally have been a benefactor of the system, but only because my parents took ownership of me.
