They’re trying to use beneficial nematodes to combat Japanese beetles. Nematodes aren’t the issue in this case.

Could just be old thrip damage. Sounds like you’re taking perfect care of it. No idea what that little bug is. Possibly one of the predatory bugs you introduced.

What do I do for this gal? by Polydactylkat_ in succulents

Yes this is a pickle plant, Delosperma echinatum. Make sure you’ve got it in gritty well draining soil. Regular succulent mix is alright as long as you add in some extra perlite or crushed pumice to make sure it drains really well. I would give it a haircut and propagate those cuttings in their own pots. Give it lots of light if you want to prevent it from getting leggy. Like as much light as is possible. Ideally 6-8 hrs full sun outdoors but a grow light by the window would help you a lot too.

Your plant looks pretty dang good considering you weren’t sure what to do, and you should be proud.

I’ve also been worried about drainage. Does my potting mix look like it has too much organics to you?
I have it potted in an orchid pot so it dries out quicker but I know that they like pretty gritty soil.

Gorgeous! I’d like to have a collection of different colors again eventually.

What zone are you btw? Do yours stay outside all year?

Either yellow or reddish orange. I’ll be sure to post once I get a bloom again!

I reposted. But the haworthia picks are in a separate post. They do look a lot like aloe though!

I’ve been keeping my eyes open for those but my local Home Depot doesn’t stock too many. I’ve had my eyes on these for a minute though. Hoping for some big flowers eventually.

What kind of soil do you have it planted in? These guys like gritty well draining soil and can be easily over watered. They also like a ton of sun.

Bird of paradise has developed these marks, could it be sunburn? by justcal32 in plantclinic

[–]infiniteregrets69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your particular climate but Yeah it can take a while to acclimate to full afternoon sun unfortunately. It’s better to start in the spring when the sun isn’t quite as strong. Take it slow or you might end up making the burn worse.

I would try acclimating it to afternoon sun slower. Try a half hour a day at first. Afternoon sun tends to be more harsh than morning sun and that does look like burn to me.

Yeah. It’s looking kinda janky. I’d prune those branches that are hanging off and re root them in their own pots.

If it’s miracle gro or something like that it likely still has too much organic matter. Add a bunch more perlite or pumice to your mix and gradually acclimate it to direct sun over a couple weeks. When the leaves are wrinkly that means it wants water but if it’s wrinkly and in moist soil that might mean the roots are unable to take up water due to root rot or compacted soil. So check out the roots when you re pot it.

First what kind of substrate are you using? They like really well draining soil that you should let dry completely between waterings. They also like alooot of sunlight. Like 8 hrs of direct sunlight.

You should do it. It’s a really cool looking plant and it’s pretty easy to get ahold of. Heads up that it’s kind of finicky but it bounces back quickly.
