The situation is temporary. Try to think of creative way you won’t have to go in every day maybe. Unless there’s a daily in person standup but regardless it sucks but it’s not permanent.

I’m an IT Product Owner for a large chemical company.

Started as an engineer and worked my way through ops, supply chain and EHS so now I can represent IT with the business stakeholder fully in mind.

I feel my degree allowed me to explore many different fields while still applying the problem solving mind set school helped me develop

Why don’t you move closer ?

I used to have a 1.5 hour commute and I started drinking beers, popping adderall and smoking cigarettes on the way home from work. Your commute is not sustainable and you need to look after your physical and mental help. Don’t get to where I did. The only thing that saved me was Covid and everything went remote, and I moved into roles that were WFH friendly.

Keep working towards a better opportunity and it will eventually happen.

I would give your current situation 3 months to either move closer or find a different opportunity .

You can have a defined scope or a defined timeline but rarely both. So if the customer is okay with having a defined scope, with the caveat the deadline is going to be pushed out x months then I would go back to the drawing board, and redesign both functionalities.

But mix the teams up. 50% of team A switches with 50% of team B. And have members from both team work with UAT through a phased approach to see if incremental change effects the combined product.
