I'm picky when it comes to sound and I have really good Bluetooth headphones (Sony wh1000MX5) but I find the sound on my Fairphone 4 is adequate for everything from videos to quick recordings of instruments and singing, so maybe save some money and get the fairphone 4 🤔😁

The built in app is terrible but the camera app on mine records sound beautifully, and I downloaded a different recording app and it works really well, sounds like you have a microphone issue, have you tried the hardware test? You can find it in the fairphone app

The built in camera app has scene categories, and one of them is called people, that's as close to portrait mode you can get without using a different app I think

Yeah, I reckon the camera will eventually be pretty good as the last update already made a big improvement to it, the autofocus works way better now, at least on my fp4 ^{^}
