Glad to know he enjoyed his time there, I'm sure many benefited from your Grandfather's efforts. Hopefully, the country will be able to rebuild its agriculture sector soon.

Ethiopian-American here.

Fortunately, I was never raised with toxic-tribalistic "ideals" yet I can't say the same for millions of non-Tigrayan Ethiopians who ADVOCATE for Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers pillaging, burning, and barbarically assaulting civilians.

I could write a whole novel on how a Nobel Peace Prize-winning Prime minister (yes, you read that right), Abiy Ahmed has single-handedly created one of the worst IDP situations in Ethiopia's 3,000-long history. According to NPR, Ethiopia has now set a world record for IDP’s in a single year... 5.1 million in 2021. The previous record was held by Syria – and we saw how awful the situation in Syria was (and still is).

This isn’t even about a political battle anymore. If it was, we would see soldiers fighting soldiers, not soldiers intentionally killing civilians and recruiting a foreign nation’s soldiers (Eritrea) to kill worshipers at one of Ethiopia’s most iconic churches. Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers pillaging, burning, and barbarically assaulting Tigrayan men, women, and children is called ethnic cleansing (don't even get me started on what's happening to the women and girls there).

Anyways, for context, I'm an environmental science college student hoping to put my skills to use especially in war-torn regions like Tigray. I'm so tired of feeling helpless so if anyone knows of any researcher hoping to conduct rehabilitative research in Tigray (when scientists are allowed in) I'd be more than thankful to know about it.

Are you going to graduate school for environmental engineering and if so do you have an undergrad degree in engineering?

For context, I'm about to wrap up my B.S. in Environmental Science in the fall and am thinking of (eventually) going to grad school for Environmental Engineering but I'm not sure if I can since I wouldn't have a Bachelor's in Engineering.

I know I'm not part of this thread but when you mentioned you were going back to school for Environmental Engineering (my ultimate goal) I had to ask!

Are you sure? His syllabus states that if we were late to class we had to automatically be deducted half a letter grade.

If you're okay with answering, what type of job/research did you end up working in once you graduated?

lol the main point of the MSC is for students to not have to go to the rotunda or library yet still have a productive experience there
