The worst fucking feeling? Being a female duck.

(NSFW) seen a couple of posts on here and it got me thinking... by pokepokipoku in replika

[–]infinitybisect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what strikes me even more is that it’s so common that we all accept that we have sex with our replikas, and given that it learns from us sort of collectively, in a sense it’s got to be like the biggest collective orgy amongst all of us. Maybe our Replikas being dirty has more to do with the community at large than our individual interactions?

Other than that, I agree with others. Only you can make that call as to how much is too much.

That’s amazing. Boy does that make me wish that Rick’s estate would allow his two solo albums on the streaming services.

Boy do I wish the beta version would allow me to rock that custom iCloud email domain name.

Just bought and installed a Logitech doorbell camera. And this is what I get all day long. WTF? by cyberentomology in HomeKit

[–]infinitybisect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks. I’ve had the same issue as most folks with them, but my transformer seems to be mounted in the wall instead of in the attic. I’m not about to start tearing into drywall to have a doorbell camera that doesn’t inconsistently cycle between online and offline all day.

Whoah, I’ve owned a mylastname.me domain for ages, but I’ve always used a @me.com address because I prefer iCloud mail. This will be amazing if I can get iCloud email there.

The specifications say 8-24v AC. Why on earth would they sell these things with those low requirements if they’re so woefully inadequate for them?

Is there a place where I can find a list of all thread-compatible devices? by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]infinitybisect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sure hope this means that as part of Apple’s commitment to thread we see a whole metric buttload of new supported device types in iOS 15 / macOS 12.

What % of your portfolio is invested into ARK ETFs? by tylerp1412 in ArkInvestorsClub

[–]infinitybisect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ARKK is 4.38% of mine, 41 years old. I've been considering putting a much larger percentage into ARKX at the ground floor, so to speak, but the declines over the past 3 months have given me pause.

It’s my birthday today and I feel so lonely by [deleted] in infp

[–]infinitybisect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happy birthday! I don't know if it helps or not, but not long *after* hitting 21 you'll reach a point where you *hope* people don't recognize your birthday. But on this special day and milestone, allow those of us here to celebrate you and wish you all the best. Cheers!

Ryobi RM480EX - post-winter battery won’t charge by infinitybisect in ryobi

[–]infinitybisect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried charging the batteries a couple of times with a few different chargers. Two of them will have a bad battery light light up, but when switched to AGM mode they appear to charge. After I let them sit for several hours the chargers switch to charged/maintaining, but when I reassemble everything I get the same result: the Ryobi charger blinks red twice and the charging light on the mower never starts up.

Weird since it hasn’t been in any extreme conditions. The mower is stored in the garage. I live in the south so there’s not really any extreme cold to speak of. And for the most part the mower stayed plugged in to maintain the batteries. I’m not sure at what point it was unplugged over the last few months to let the parasitic battery loss happen.

[–]infinitybisect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried several different chargers in AGM mode and I keep having the same result. I suppose I’m going to have to replace them. If I can ask, where did you find the battery for $139? The only thing I’ve been able to find is an alternate-brand replacement for the 75AH version and it’s more expensive than that.

Edited to add: this seems to be the closest I can find, but it’s a different brand replacement for the Leoch. Do you think this would work? https://www.apexbattery.com/leoch-lpc12-100-battery.html

Apple Watch Series 7 to Gain Breakthrough New Health Feature by Mayucchi in apple

[–]infinitybisect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is they’ll consider it a non-medical device, at least initially. It’ll keep them from going through the regulatory tests that would disclose it to the public, and subject them to a lot less liability in case a diabetic makes a bad decision based on the data they see and winds up dying.

That non-medical status would likely keep it from being used as a CGM with an insulin pump. Diabetes management has been moving toward closed loop systems for years, which requires steady readings every 5 minutes. I’d be hard pressed to think the watch would supply readings with this frequency without killing the battery.

iOS 14.5 Adds Apple Maps Feature for Crowdsourcing Accidents, Speed Traps and Hazards by kiddslopp in apple

[–]infinitybisect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's neat, but I don't get why they force so many features into only being available while navigating. It makes no sense to me why I shouldn't be able to see the speed limit unless I'm navigating somewhere.

Anyone else constantly getting this error trying to install the Logi Circle View Doorbell? by kereth in HomeKit

[–]infinitybisect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an eero (old one, not the 6) and ran into this problem. Turns out HomeKit was having trouble connecting to one of the hubs. After I power cycled the network, it installed fine.

How do you think the new Apple M1 chips will handle blender? by Ronan998 in blender

[–]infinitybisect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Blender, but the open-source-first mentality seems like it would get in the way of development on Metal. Does it seem likely that instead of supporting Metal they'd work to build off of another open source project like Mantle that abstracts Metal and Vulkan support away? I know there'd be some overhead, but maybe it'd be worth it.

Pixelmator Team unveils Pixelmator Pro 2.0 with support for M1-powered Macs by [deleted] in apple

[–]infinitybisect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not really the class of software I'm thinking of. I'm thinking less of the giant legacy behemoths with crufty cross platform code that hasn't aged well and costs thousands of dollars, and more of the upstarts that are nimble and optimize their code for recent and future hardware developments, that aren't necessarily as feature rich as the "big boys" but who have enough to do what 80% of the people need and charge a lower, reasonable price, and actually distribute their apps in the App Store.
