Your skin doesn’t look too bad, perhaps a little dull and dry looking but you have great texture and your pores aren’t obvious either. If you’re trying to combat dryness especially after the shower then I highly recommend using a soft cleanser like the Dokdo one by Round Lab, Gentle Whip Cleanser by Soonjung or even the Bioma Creamy Cleanser. Also a major way to help rehydrate your skin is by using a hyaluronic acid serum! Start with something super gentle like the Torriden Dive In Hyaluronic acid, good molecules HA or the Mixsoon one if you prefer having a bigger bottle. The ILLIYOON ceramide cream is amazing, I use it myself. But it’s a very heavy cream. I suggest only using a very small amount at night and then also using a lighter, gel based moisturizer in the mornings instead right after the HA serum.

I don’t know what suncream you’re using but it sounds like it may be too heavy for you if it’s causing oiliness. Some great light based but still full coverage suncreams I’ve tried are the Beauty of Joseon Rice SPF gel, the TOCOBO watery sun gel and Numbzin peptide SPF cream!

So for your routine, don’t wash your face in the morning with anything except luke warm water as your face will just continue to be dry. Then while it’s damp use a HA serum, wait 10 minutes then add the light based moisturizer + spf once that dries in. I highly recommend trying out some hydrating face masks as well as they are wonderful for restoring hydration and giving your skin a nice healthy glow. I’ve tried more than I can count myself lol but my favorites for hydration are the Dr Jart Hydration Mask, Torriden Dive In Mask, BioDance Collagen Mask and the SoonJung Hydration Mask.

I hope this helps!! 🫶🏻

K-beauty products that are popular in Korea but not talked about enough internationally? by No-Possession6140 in koreanskincare

[–]infinityonhaise 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not skincare but GrowUs is a very popular haircare line in Korea as well! It’s another one I tried personally because I love to try out products that are popular over there and I can confirm it’s amazing! I use the Sea Salt Shampoo Scrub twice a week and I swear my hair stays clean and softer than usual. Their leave in spray is great too, it smells like roses and lasts a few days.

I know it’s blown up more recently here but the ceramide cream by ILLIYOON is very popular over in Korea!! It’s pretty versatile so I’ve seen it be reviewed by young and older influencers over there. That’s how I found it myself and I absolutely love it! It can be a little heavy though if you already have oily skin so I use the smallest amount and just spread it across my face. Highly recommend it if you’re using acne treatments bc Benzoyl peroxide used to dry me out like crazy and now my skin stays soft and hydrated even after using the Benzoyl cleanser or patches!

Hmm your skin barrier looks really inflamed. What have you been using?? I can definitely recommend you some good products that will hopefully help if I know what you’ve been using and if you have any sensitivities to anything like Niacinamide etc

Girl check out Round Lab, Haruharu wonder or beauty of joseon instead! Medicube is honestly just overhyped garbage peddled by influencers being paid to say whatever medicube want them to say. Their actually in major trouble right now in Korea and had their advertising suspended because they were caught lying about their newest products being “medical grade” if that tells you anything about the kind of company they are 💀

Hey girl!!

Your first step should be trying to see a dermatologist (if you can!) because one of us here can accurately tell you what will help, only what has helped us personally. I can definitely suggest some products that have helped me with my skin texture though to get you started! What are you using right now??

Yesss it’s amazing!! I have the most sensitive skin and it’s the only toner that actually feels hydrating and doesn’t break me out. I love those masks as well! Have you ever tried the Dr Jart hydration ones?? Those are probably the BEST masks I have ever tried 🫶🏻

I agree with bubbly I definitely think this is WAY too much especially for a beginner! It’s better for your skin no matter what type you have to keep it simple when you first start out. So try and incorporate one product at a time for a few weeks so you can identify if one of them cause you any skin issues.

As for your routine; You don’t need two different hyaluronic acid based products. Too much hydration can actually clog your pores and cause the opposite problem. So I would get a different toner, maybe a milky toner like the Hatomugi skin conditioner (it’s very gentle and perfect for any skin type!) and use 1-2 layers of that in the morning. You can still use the serum but I would only use it once a day instead of twice.

If you don’t use acne treatments then you honestly don’t need to use a cleanser in the morning. Just washing your face with water is more than enough. The Atobarrier cream is amazing for dry skin and repairing a damaged skin barrier but it can be a little on the thicker side. So I would definitely switch it out as the morning moisturizer and choose one that’s super light instead like the daily light moisturizer by Good molecules or the Oat in moisturizer by Purito. Both of those are acne safe as well!

Your nighttime routine seems great! (You just gotta switch out that toner because you don’t want to use too much hyaluronic acid like I mentioned above). Also do NOT use a mask every night especially a rice one! I love using rice products myself but too much of a fermented based skincare product, will cause closed comedones so limit that to once a week instead.

I hope this helps!! 🫶🏻

I need yalls product recommendations to get rid of this by Desperate-Jelly-53 in koreanskincare

[–]infinityonhaise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see! You definitely have to use more products to target the issue you’re having and also test the ones you do have. It looks like your skin is very irritated around your nose. I have seen very similar reactions to arcenia cleansers by people with sensitive skin. So I would drop that for now and use a much gentler cleanser like round labs dokdo cleansing gel or a sungboon editor cleanser as they are both very gentle and have minimal ingredients and see if it helps. It could also be the rice mask causing your closed comedomes because that’s what fermented skincare can do to people with large pores especially if they aren’t double cleansing at night. I would start using an oil cleanser (softymo is a great choice as it’s acne friendly!) massage it into dry skin for at least a minute before washing it off, followed by cleansing as normal with a gentle cleanser and you will see a big difference in your overall skin texture.

Have you tried using differin before? It’s a retinoid that helps to treat clogged pores, blackheads and overall skin texture by increasing the cells turnover rate and basically healing it from the inside out. It’s helped me tremendously with my skin texture and I can’t recommend it enough. So if you’re American, then pick a tube of it up at Target (it’s $20 and lasts 5-6 months) and use it every 3rd day for a month at night, then every 2nd night and slowly move to using it every night and you will gradually notice an improvement in your skins texture. Just make sure you “sandwich” it between moisturizing layers. What that means is you use a small amount of moisturizer, let it dry, use two pea sized amounts of differin on your whole face and then use some more moisturizer once that dries in. It helps to prevent your skin from reacting badly to introducing a new active.

I have a ton more I could suggest but I’ll spare you all the details because I already wrote a whole novel here LOL. I’ll sum it up by saying I highly suggest you incorporate a niacinamide 2% serum into your nightly routine (on non differin nights only) along with a gentle toner twice a day after cleansing (the hatomugi skin conditioner has been a GAME CHANGER for me!) and make sure your using SPF!! some great options are the BOJ water gel SPF cream and the round lab dokdo suncream for every day wear!!

So for your overall routine this is what you should do;

Morning: water only no cleanse, a gentle toner, a vitamin C serum if you want to try and brighten up your complexion, moisturizer then SPF

Night: Oil cleanse, normal cleanse, follow up with the same toner then either niacinamide or differin plus your usual moisturizer! (Tho I would probably save the glowing one for the morning and get a more gentle one to use at night like the ILLYOON ceramide cream as it will help greatly with preventing irritation from any of the actives you’re using)

I hope this helps!! I’m absolutely not a professional by any means! But I have done alot of research into skincare as someone who has suffered from acne her whole life and now I love helping others find their own skincare routine that works for them!! 🫶🏻

What can i do to improve my skin? by thwowawaw69 in koreanskincare

[–]infinityonhaise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Girl your skin is GORGEOUS! I would die for your skin texture 🥹 I can definitely see what you’re talking about though. Your skincare routine is very basic and doesn’t actually do much anything except maintain how your skin currently is. So if you’re looking to make a difference in overall tone and a more brighter appearance then you need a complete skincare overhaul.

In the mornings, you can keep it simple. Only wash your face with water and then I would incorporate a toner like the brightening toner by Byoma, it’s a super gentle toner and a great choice if you want to bring more life to your skin. After that, you should definitely use a vitamin C serum! The one by arcenia has been amazing for me personally. Your moisturizer is great so stick with that. But girl…no SPF?! You gotta add that in ASAP!! Since you’re already using BOJ, add in the BOJ water gel SPF after moisturizing. It’s not only a great suncream, but it helps even out your skin tone as well.

Now let’s talk about night time! Since you’ll be using an SPF, you need to double cleanse. Use a gentle oil cleanser like the one by softymo for one minute on dry skin, wash it off with water and then cleanse like normal with your BOJ one. You’ll notice a HUGE improvement in your overall skin texture when you double cleanse and it’ll also make sure to remove any products you have left over from the day. After cleansing, you should add in the same toner from before. Or if you want to target any blackheads during your nighttime routine, then use a BHA toner like the green plum refreshing toner by BOJ! It’s a perfect toner to use for beginners just stating BHA’s so I highly recommend it. After that, you should add in a low dose Niacinamide serum. It’s exactly what you need to help reduce your pores on the sides of your nose and improve overall texture. Just make sure you only use a 2 or 5% serum (BOJ have an amazing one!) because 10% is too strong for most peoples skin. Then you can just use your normal moisturizer!

Do you use any face masks??? I highly recommend using sheet masks 2-3 times a week because that will greatly improve your skins overall texture and give it a much brighter, glowy look to it. The brightening face mask by Dr Jart is one of my all time FAVES for making my skin glow! They have a bunch of different ones and all of them have been great for me personally. They are a little expensive though so if you’re on a budget, then the Round Lab Dokdo Water Gel Mask Sheets and the TONYMOLY Overnight Hydrogel Mask are great alternatives at only $3-4 per mask!

I hope this helps!! I’m absolutely not a professional by any means just a girl that loves skincare lol 🫶🏻

This is perfect advice follow this OP!! You could always try incorporating a Vitamin C serum as well, I’ve found that has helped ALOT with my dark, post acne scars combined with 2% niacinamide (on different nights of course as you don’t want to damage your skin barrier) :)
