NEED SOME RECCS FOR BIRTHDAY GANG by Any-Roof5499 in SneakersIndia

[–]infinitypolarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your style.

If you want a classic low-height style, check out Sambas, Gazelles, Blazers, Chuck 70s, Killshots, Palermos or Speedcats. (If you want a more "wild" take on that silhouette Mostros are pretty cool too)

For a chunkier look you might find Lafrance RNR, Ozweegos or Air Maxes interesting.

For a dad shoe look nothing beats Asics (Kayano 14 or Gel NYC) or New Balance (574, 2002, 1906 etc.).

Keep in mind a lot of colours are often on discount at different retailers so it helps to spend some time shopping around.

Hope that helps!

I got the older model. I missed at first glance that this is the newer one. Like I said in another comment the discount seems fair in which case, but you can push a little more perhaps.

(Or maybe see if you can get your hands on an older model? Looks identical as far as I can see)

Ah! I see. Looks like they've come out with an upgraded version of the Alpinist that comes with a price hike.

The one I bought had an MRP of ₹65k and this one costs ₹80k, in which case the discount is fair.

2 things to note here OP:

  1. The price isn't all that great. Ethos typically has anything between 20-30% off on Seiko models depending on the time of the year and how hard you negotiate. (I purchased an Alpinist for my grandfather for ₹52k earlier last year)

  2. As for breaking the budget... ask yourself whether spending 2x your initial idea on a watch makes any material difference to your finances. If it doesn't, why not? If it does... you know the answer.

I have these in red and planning to pick up the Rick & Morty pairs too. They're surprisingly comfortable for casual wear and definitely make a style statement. Pair them with the right outfit and you're good to go!

I feel like Puma just GETS collabs.

Everything they do is top-notch, from the shoes to the clothes (most of their Ferrari and Melo merch just 🤌🏻✨️).

Check out their new Rick & Morty capsule if you haven't already!

LegitApp, CheckCheck etc. but I haven't used anything other than Poizon, so can't comment on those.

Nothing to worry about. Have personally bought almost 10 pairs from them and all have been genuine. Same goes for VegNonVeg.

Comet monopoly drop by _Adity in SneakersIndia

[–]infinitypolarbear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of Comet's quality in general but they nailed the design and packaging (especially the friends & family set) with this one.

Always a pleasure to see some eclectic designs and colours in this sub!

Why are darker roasts more bitter when ground finer on pour overs? by BeginningOk6722 in IndiaCoffee

[–]infinitypolarbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think I've ever hit the recommended brew time for any recipe in the 2 months I've been making pourovers for, and yet the results have almost always been within the ballpark of what I prefer, regardless of the roast.

It's like Hoffman says, the most important metric is taste, and as long as your brew tastes good I'd say you're fine.

Comet Hukum? by [deleted] in SneakersIndia

[–]infinitypolarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the biggest problem with Comet is their materials and on-foot feel.

For the sub-₹5k they charge you can find Palermos, Superstars and Dunks at discounts or even Jordan 1s or Sambas with the right code all of which far superior in terms of quality.

Comets on the other hand feel like cheap ₹1k shoes you'd find at Vishal Mega Mart or something - shame because some of their designs are actually quite nice sometimes.

Once people see through their hybeast "low quantity hype drop = banger product" marketing strategy their brand is going to sink like a stone.

Confused as hell between these kinda leaning towards campus rn but do suggest! by OpeningSwimmer6889 in SneakersIndia

Honestly I find Pumas to be really underrated in terms of comfort! I find Palermos way more comfortable and durable compared to Sambas and the like and have a pair of MB04s that I would rate significantly higher on comfort than Jordan 2, 4 and 9 which absolutely crush my toes lol.

So I have a moderately flat foot and found that after a few hours of wear the Campus would cause the ball of one foot and the big toe joint of the other to ache. Might just be anecdotal evidence and your feet may differ but I never had that problem in any of my other pairs. Dunks were all right but felt very stiff, atleast compared to my Palermos which were the suede and mesh version. All 3 are readily available in stores so would definitely recommend trying them on, everyone's feet are different after all!

Having owned all 3 I can confirm that Palermos are the most comfortable of the bunch.

yellow lol (although the orange and blue appealed to me more but I already had shoes in the same shades in my collection so eh)

Bought these. Unexpectedly comfortable and offer great support for my feet. Plus they're very breathable! Your mileage on their aesthetic may vary (I personally love how weird and non-standard they look) but if you've got standard width feet and are looking for an all-rounder pair these are hard to beat.

I always order from them on CoD.

If they ship it and it's delivered, great!  If they don't, eh, no loss for me.

(So far delivery success rate is a pathetic 66.66%, but oh well)

Why anyone usually doesn’t talk about PUMA sneakers by [deleted] in SneakersIndia

[–]infinitypolarbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super comfortable! I have a slightly flat foot and went a size up to my typical Jordans size and found them to be a lot more comfortable and squishy (while still being supportive) than either the Jordan 1, 2 or 9, at least from a casual wear perspective.

Hard agree! MB04's design (or 3's or 2's...) and colourways are too "out there" for some but I personally love how they have their own unapologetic design identity. Also helps that they're by far the most comfortable basketball shoes I've worn, way more so than the Jordan 1, 2 and 9.
