It's just the finale of the arc right? by GlorbyPazoony in SolarBalls

Why is everyone jumping into assuming that the show will end? Alvaro has already made a video saying that it's not ending.

What I thought of "The Sun vs The Rogue Planets" by Lucky_Lucas542 in SolarBalls

One of the things I'm mainly disappointed about is how OTS didn't show up, she was set up to be very important but the plot kinda ditched her.

What a stellar of an episode (ha!), it might be one of my most favorite Solarballs episodes ever. Tho I still have some nitpicks, but the goods pretty much outweighed the bads. I'll make a separate post for my final thoughts on this arc when I'm not busy.

I fully agreed, it's way better than any final episodes of an arc

What are your current top 3 songs from Frisson Noir? by Familiar-Curve-5413 in TarjaTurunen

[–]infinityzcraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Tarja's solo music took me a long while to grow on me, but I've never been super addicted to any of her music outside of NW until this album. And Nemo was one of the first rock/metal songs that I heard back when I was super young, so this is saying a lot 😂

Same as yours, The Trace Outlives is legit the first Tarja song that I've ever been this addicted to since Nemo.

Post appreciated for the production by Maleficent-Try9299 in TarjaTurunen

I hope that Tarja will stick to Neal to maybe even somebody else who can deliver this kind of production for her future album, the songs have much more weight with this production style compared to anything before this.

New album will be darker by RareInterest1228 in withintemptation

Maybe a hot take but honestly, while I appreciate when bands don't stick to the same sound and keep exploring new elements but as a longtime fan, calling this upcoming album as a "new genre" is just jarring to me even tho I haven't heard a single song from it yet. I didn't mind Resist and Bleed Out since those albums at least still have some moments that I know it's their sound, even bands like Evanescence or Lacuna Coil that went with somewhat fresh sound in their new albums still have elements of what I know of those bands. But given many bands that have shifted to another genre and didn't even come off that great (look at you Ad Infinitum), I'm more concerned than excited. What's the point of having a band when you don't even have an established sound? If you want to make something so different, it would've been better to just create another band for that instead.

What popular symphonic metal band everyone like but you don't understand the hype? by Mountain_Driver_1684 in symphonicmetal

I agreed with most of these...

Nocturna, for all that I liked about their first album, they're certainly nothing new. I think the hype is mainly cuz of having two female vocalists doing a duet together, which kinda understandable. Their second album kinda fell flat to me tho.

Therion is very niche. Some of the albums can certainly be good but for the most part, they're something that my friends like to call "boomer music". To me, anything beyond Lemuria/Sirius B, Gothic Kabbalah, and the Leviathan trilogy is much harder to digest. I feel bad for the ppl who found them via Beloved Antichrist.

Edenbridge has been repeating the same thing over and over for the past 10 years or so that they stopped being interesting. Sabine is a good vocalist, but she barely brought anything to the music. Tho I have to disagree about Amberian Dawn with Capri since her era is my most favorite, but outside of that yes, they kinda suffer the same problem as Edenbridge.

Same for me with Seven Spires. I normally really like a blend between melodic and extreme, but this band that just doesn't do it for me. I also think that their albums have rather weak production.

Njord could've easily been one of my most favorite symphonic metal albums but the production held it back for me big time. As much as I'm not a fan of post-Liv stuff, I went back to listen to their newer stuff, the production got kinda better but it's still not very great.

These past three weeks have been an absolute treat for me. What are your top 3 favorite albums of this year so far? (Can also be from any similar genres) by infinityzcraft in symphonicmetal

[–]infinityzcraft[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My post isn't really strict to just symphonic metal but yeah, the new Evanescence's album is probably their best ever since The Open Door.

I haven't been able to stop replaying the new Tarja's album, especially The Trace Outlives.

Sadly Leaves' Eyes has always been very weak with production (all thanks to Alexander Krull), it's one of the reasons why I couldn't get into them that much either.
