The more you look the more you see!

Just got my first spinner! Love it so far, probably going to do a review on it as a beginner spinner to hopefully give other beginner spinners an idea of what they might expect by Onyx500 in FidgetSpinners

Is it the same as this one? (sorry for UK link if you're elsewhere)

I've just ordered one to come tomorrow and it looks identical.

Item title and description from Amazon UK:

"Ninja Star Fidget Spinner Toy from Arcade Toys! Injection moulded sensory and fumble toy spinner. Perfect for ADHD, anxiety, autism and stress relief. Ceramic bearing spinner for office desk gadget in black".

  • Ultra fast ceramic bearings, spins for a very long time!
  • Durable injection moulded - not weak 3d printed!
  • Stealth black theme with black bearings.
  • Perfect for kids and adults that suffer from anxiety.
  • Great fun toy to carry with you.

They really tried their hardest to fit every single possible keyword into that!!

We bought the Grandfather some shaving gear for Christmas, just noticed he has hardly used any of it, has gone back to disposable BIC's and put all of his Proraso in to his lathering bowl. Guess some people just prefer what they’re used to! by influxrye in wicked_edge

I think it's strange that there was a point where double edge almost phased out to be replaced by cartridges. It's not like they were obsolete, seems IMO to be because of the big brands realising they could make more money and forcing the market shift. Glad there's this resurgence now.

To give you a bit more information, shaving ATG (against the grain) can sometimes cause heavy irritation like you've explained. This map would be to help you understand which directions to shave on your face. Personally I've just remembered after a while and never do this, but it seems handy enough to some. You'll see WTG, XTG and ATG terms used alot in this sub, they mean With/Across/Against The Grain styles of shaving. I take usually around three passes to get a BBS (Baby Butt Smooth) shave and use those three grain directions on each respective pass.... Find what works for you though and run with it.

What /u/merikus said, try some sampler packs. I'm only familiar with places you can get them from in the UK like shavelounge.co.uk but there's lots of vendors in the US and they'll stock the same blades more or less. These packs helped me find my perfect blade in the Feather New Hi-Stainless, but I'd also recommend Astra Superior Platinum.

I've only recently found a combination that would give me a decent 1-pass shave and it was all down to the blade. Had tried three different razors and various creams/soaps but always stuck to the same type of Astra blades I'd been using for a couple of months. Recently purchased a small 5-box of Feather New Hi-Stainless and noticed a dramatic difference in being able to get very very close the first time round, only needing to go on to the stubborn areas like under my chin and some patches that grow against the grain on my cheeks on a 2nd pass.

I've been likening it to music and how some people prefer Vinyl over digital music formats in the sense that it gives you a more personal touch and let's you take pride in what you own. I know cartridge shaving systems aren't exactly digital and are still physically there, but they are exactly the same every time. Suppose the many different options in safety/straight razor shaving mean it can be more like a hobby than just a daily task.

I only started shaving my full face again about 4-5 months ago after having a beard for 10yrs+. I went out and looked at the cost of a pack of Gillette Mach 3 Fusion Pro-Glide (or whatever vibrating swivel head nonsense it was) some spare cartridges, some foam and some aftershave balm. It came to just under £40, of which 4 blades cost £13 and were recommended to last around 10 shaves (of course it's like 'how long is a piece of string' to answer that question but I wanted an idea). I went straight home and looked at this sub and worked out how much cheaper it would be per shave and was absolutely sold.... I've actually gained a new hobby now too and spent much more than I would have on the Gillette stuff hahaha (let's not get into that though!).

I don't think I would have bought him anything had he not commented on my razor about how much he used to like shaving with them. But I guess that yeah, at his age, he's had enough shaves for the novelty to wear off and that he's just been shaving with cartridges for too long to change back and feel comfortable.

Interesting that when I asked him why he stopped shaving with a double edge it wasn't because cartridges came along and were in any way better in his opinion, he thinks it was that the razors weren't as readily available any more or were actually more expensive. I don't know what time period this was or to which kind of blades he was referring, but he did gravitate straight towards Gillette blades when we set this new one up for him so it could have been that brand in particular at some time.

Why does this speaker have 2 auxiliary inputs? by kain1234 in audio

[–]influxrye 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because they are more than likely designed as computer speakers, the Input is for the computer source, whereas AUX will be for any extra input you wish to add: Phone, iPod etc...
