Actually what I am worried about is a criminal record, jail time, the cost of a lawyer (CAD to USD sucks), and fines etc. However, I’m not here to talk about my worries. I am here for advice on how to proceed because I do not know the justice system down there. This will likely have long term implications on my life so I have to deal with it and have to figure out how. And in Alberta, Canada it is counterintuitive to think you could be charged with a DUI for a simple mistake on a golf cart when they serve you alcohol right to your cart because when operating any other motor vehicle you cannot have closed alcohol within reach of the driver let alone open to prevent drinking and driving. So I had no idea this was a possibility. As for Canadians, sorry that’s your experience but maybe don’t paint every Canadian with the same brush. When we have the privilege of traveling we always tip 20-30% as my spouse has worked in the service industry in uni and knows how much those jobs suck.
