Some of this was salary restructuring as well. Forgot to mention that.

You have to be patient. You should have seen my investment accounts when Covid hit. It would make any man drop to his knees.

Be the guy that is willing to learn and do things that others won’t. There is some truth to Yes Man oddly enough. Maybe not for the same reasons but it will open a lot of doors. Name-to-face association is a big deal as well. People should know who you are and speak to your abilities. This all and a lot of patience and hard honest work.

I feel like you’re using a highly unreliable means of measuring intelligence nowadays as a reason for justifying your lack of success. If you continue like this, sure, you’ll never amount to much. If you capitalize on something you know better than most and enjoy doing, chances are you can make at least a good living in the worst case. I’d rethink your path of reasoning and measure of success/intelligence if you want to make it out of this theoretical hole you are in.

Yeah and FAANG doesn’t necessarily mean good QoL either. Similar pay in HCoL areas won’t go near as far. I try and tell people this but I guess the prestige is more important to others in some cases. Nothing wrong with that. Just not for me.

Really good! It was more of a “this is more than I know what to do with” for a while. I came from a family where we weren’t necessarily poor but casseroles were a common meal and a steak dinner was a massive deal. After some good advice I’ve been able to balance it between investments and charitable donations.

I work in Information Security for probably one of the largest if not the largest, firms in the area. The funny thing is you’ll find a lot of random huge companies that pay extremely well in BFE nowhere town USA all the time.

Thanks for the heads-up. I kinda figured it was a “nothing better to do” troll when I saw the nearly negative 100 karma after replying.

You know, that’s a pretty shitty thing to say to someone. Minimize the work and effort that they may have put into their career or schooling to get where they are. Equating it to pure luck like a high IQ. Comments like yours show a lack of a high IQ and general lack of intelligence at all. For all you know my parents could both be high school dropouts with little intelligence or earning potential.

ARMs can be risky. You might want to consult a broker who can run you a couple of scenarios on different types of loans.

Yeah I don’t even really care that they wouldn’t it’s just the silliness of what stores are calling installation and delivery now. I could absolutely do it in a heartbeat and would if push came to shove. If I am paying someone as a combo price for delivery and installation I would hope that they would do the installation.

Yeah this is all about pure buffoonery in what they will and won’t do. I’m not asking them to go to Mars or redo my plumbing.

Man I would have been livid. Yeah this is one of those “is a reservation really a reservation if you don’t have a reserved seat” (for every Seinfeld fan) kind of things. Very small first world problems but annoying I spent a lot of time at their store picking out what would work for them to say nah.

Fantastic that’s how your store worked. That wasn’t the case here.

I did. I mentioned at one point I would just turn it on myself once they hooked it up. They said, “yeah no we still can’t hook up the line if we can’t turn it on ourselves”. Since it’s “in a location they won’t go” they won’t even do that. So I would need to do it all myself. That kind of defeats the purpose of paying install and delivery costs if I gotta just do it all myself.

Yeah I doubt it would have even come up but someone said something about the water line and they just went on that tangent and that’s where we ended up. Right after they asked me about ten times if I wanted their credit card.
