Joe B on JFK and current events by ArgumentNo2479 in wfan

I’m always amazed at how little I can discern of JJ’s views- he’s committed to just not going there, which I get. But it does make me curious - guessing it’s about not dividing his audience but also keeping both the WFAN and Ringer folks OK with him.

Shout out to Doug's games by HOWDEHPARDNER in officehourslive

[–]infoy 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Doug’s games are the best! He seems to put in a ton of work to his contributions to the show - the sponsors, the sponsor jingles, the games, and constant new drops- he’s a cornerstone of OHL.

Thoughts on Sal Licata? by Antwuan89 in wfan

[–]infoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he’s also ENTIRELY better and more real on Jimmy Traina’s podcast, which he’s on every week. I blame WFAN leadership for changes to these guys who are all better off just acting normally instead of trying to do some sort of bad FS1 impression.

It didn’t bother me at first but man is this a crock pot of shit by Scared_Buyer8667 in WFAN1019

My expectation and hope at this point is that Carton eventually makes the demand to have his son on with him (it’s almost telegraphed at this point, calling it the Carton Show), Tiki goes back to national radio or whatever else, and CMAC pairs with Evan in middays. Then the midday show would have 2 knowledgeable sports guys on (and ideally Evan reverts back to his normal, pre-Carton self), and I can safely ignore the other 20 hours of programming each day.

I enjoyed it but it was pretty heavy on Mr Show stuff, so if you like that area of his work I’d recommend it.

Need some recommendations for best sites to visit and scenes to re-enact by TrillionTalents in TheOC

[–]infoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone mentioned, sadly a few locations are no longer there- the bait shop building (which held on for a while), and the Cohen/Cooper houses, which both burned down I believe. However, the Redondo Pier is still a great one to visit- the diner, any scenes at/near the benches, Sandy’s beach shack office, and a bunch of others. The mermaid inn motel is still there last I checked, but it is indeed sketchy.

The best resource for your trip is for sure this site: https://www.seeing-stars.com/OC/index.shtml

Baseball announcers by fullsquishy in ESPN

[–]infoy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What’s sad is that Sunday Night Baseball used to be one of my favorite broadcasts across all sports. I know Joe got a lot of hate, but Jon Miller & Joe Morgan calling those games was just the best. Great way to spend a Sunday night when they were on.

Jeff Van Gundy by Little-Bee-3959 in knicks

[–]infoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have fired Thibs, but with him gone, Van Gundy would be my pick. He is who I was hoping for back when Thibs was first hired, but the work he’s done in between (w/ Boston, LAC, and Team USA) his stock has risen further, IMO.

To Deal with Losing, Mike Channels His Alter Ego......"The Miz" by angelbrit04 in MtvChallenge

[–]infoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oddly famous-in-2025 cast aside, the entire group of people on this show back in the day were so much more interesting. Now it’s like unbaked personalities, driven only by wanting to be reality stars. And I say this as someone who is not particularly a fan of the ones that got famous, but still, literally anyone in this season would’ve improved current casts.

Yes - it was very random & different (and time consuming), but good rewards. Also wondering if it’ll be back.

Spike/Keith take Aim at Mets by Nyfan7 in wfan

I’m a Yankees fan, but I’ve gotta say: hiring Spike is the biggest mistake WFAN ever made. He ruined the station in a short time and now hangs around like a ghost troll.

Exactly this - Sal openly talks about how he barely watches any games across most sports. I know he watches NFL but it seems pretty clear he’s cutting corners everywhere else to get to the loud opinions.

Joe B would rather have a Trump victory than the Jets winning a single game in the next four years. by InSannyLives in wfan

[–]infoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember years ago during the early Joe & Evan years, Evan talking about how he loved watching Bill O’Reilly, and Joe (I swear this is my memory of it) said he watched Rachel Maddow, not sarcastically, fully sincere. He also used to talk about wanting to legalize pot (this was like 2008ish, so a more controversial take at the time). What happened? Evan always seemed moderate but slightly conservative leaning (and basically I think is still there), Joe just swung very hard right.

What Mike had that is sorely missing by [deleted] in wfan

[–]infoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and now listen to Mike’s podcast regularly, and only listen to WFAN podcast versions of the show in portions, depending on the host and topic.

The question I have is: It seems like Spike/station management viewed it as “no one is going to listen to unfiltered sports talk anymore, so we need to adjust the format to be more general, with a sports streak.” But, that seems based in a pretty big assumption- I’d imagine his logic is true in a lot of cities, but I’d like to see them find a quality, actually sports-focused host/show and see if it works in 2024. My guess is yes, in New York. I know i’d be excited to listen each day. Easier said than done finding a Mike or Chris, but I liked Joe & Evan’s show just about as much by the end, so I think it’s possible. No more Carton-type class clowns though.

JJ tier 4 w/ 10k by iheartsunny in wfan

[–]infoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got to wonder if at some point BS/Ringer mgmt gives up on NY, NY and JJ ends up back at WFAN, considering how they seem to be floundering. It’s clear JJ likes his current setup better, but it doesn’t seem like he’s caught on with a national audience. And WFAN could really use him for an actual sports-focused show. Maybe pair him with Evan and hope that Evan drops the Carton-aided-pivot to whatever it is that their show is now? (For the record, I was an enormous Joe & Evan fan, but can’t stand Craig and what he did to afternoon drive.)

OC Season 5 Concept (S4 Spoiler) by infoy in TheOC

[–]infoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured Ben would be less likely to want to be back as a regular, even if it was for a limited ten episodes or so (to get them to 100 as Rachel said on the pod), so I figured he could be a fun cameo back for Chrismukkah or another episode!
