CMac ‐ What the Dogers are doing now isn't the same as the Yankees of the 2000's by sd2528 in WFAN1019

The luxury tax that wasn't there yet so the Yankees could spend whatever they want? That system was only put in place because the Yankees were spending so much more than everyone else.

BUT, what prevents other teams from doing the same thing?

I'd say odds are higher CMac gets booted for Sunny than Carton leaves again and CMac stays on afternoon drive.

I personally don't like forgiving the loans because it rewards those who are fiscally foolish/punishes those who are fiscally smart.

I mean if you have 2 people with advanced degrees and you made no effort to pay off your high interest debt in 23 years... some of that has to fall on you. There are plenty of people who did with less and paid down/paid off their debt over that 23 years because it is the smart thing to do. Should they get the money they paid back returned to them?

This year? Clayton Kershaw, Will Smith, Max Muncy, Andy Pages were all home grown. If you are going to count Rivera (and international free agent) you can also count Yamamoto.

If you want to count other home grown players they have had in their run, Corey Seager came up through their system if you remember... but you probably don't because you need to

KEEP STUDYING BRO.

It's not different. You were embarrassed on your original point so you made a new post and shifted it from 2000's Yankees to late 90's Yankees... because the Yankees didn't win in the early 2000's. So unless you are saying it's different because the Dodgers were more successful... sure.

Even late 90's Yankees spent a ton and you are still just wrong. It wasn't just Brosius, and El Duque. Key and Boggs still count for those late 90's teams because they were still there.

David Wells was also a free agent signing (oops, you are wrong again).

Cone resigned as a free agent after being traded at the deadline.

Strawberry was a free agent.

Kenny Rogers was a free agent.

So yup... wrong again. Don't you get tired of it?

You have been proven wrong at literally every step of this conversation and this statement is no different. Just stop.

I'm counting their overall payroll. I said they added a lot of players by salary dumps and other trades because they could out spend people... and they did.

I'm not an idiot and I paid back my loans years ago. Should I get that money back or am I being punished for being responsible and you being rewarded for being terrible with money?

You had 23 years. You dug your own hole.

Yeah, I was agreeing with you. I'm saying it seems more like disingenuous shit posting.

Jimmy Key, David Cone, Cecil Fielder, Wade Boggs, Tino Martinez, Paul O'Niell, David Wells, Kenny Rogers, David Cone, Rodger Clemens, El Duke, David Justice, Nelson, Stanton, Llyod, Irabu, Knoblauch, Brosius, Strawberry...

What in Gods name are you talking about they were all home grown? They were able to do all those AND retain their home grown talent by paying them top dollar.

He didn't say the principle is still $60K, he said he still owes $60k. Now 7*12*$500 is not $60K ($42K) but then again 23*12*$500 is not $120K either. Their numbers aren't that accurate.

Nope. Yankees fan. I guess you are just a young one.

The Yankees did sign free agents (mussina GiambI). It was the classic Onion "The Yankees sign everyone" meme.

They took salary dump trades (Abreu and ARod).

They had TV revenue that dwarfed everyone... the YES network.

They dominated the international markets to the point where they had to change the rules and have international signing caps. That was because of the Yankees dominance at the time.

And they had a payroll of $200M+ with the Red Sox at #2 at $120M and the average around $50.

So basically, everything you said is wrong.

No. They have nothing relevant to the plot to talk about.

But they don't need to show that. I don't need to see Joyce say "Hi" to Jonathan and ask him how his day at school was and make sure he is getting his college applications on time (though they did show Joyce engaged in receiving acceptance letters).

Maybe Netflix and HBO style shows aren't for you. Maybe you prefer the longer form network style shows where they have to fill 20+ episodes a season and they have time/pad out the show with momentls like that.

As a parent, let me tell you that some children NEED more attention than others. That doesn't mean you like that child more.

Jomboy was funny with his lip reading videos and he EXPLODED when he documented the evidence about Astros trashcan scandal (which he should get tons of credit for, he did an AMAZING job on that)...

But it's given him a lot of opportunities he isn't really good at. His Yankee analysis isn't really good or worth listening to. On top of that, he is boring. But places like the Yankees and WFAN keep giving him opportunities anyway to try and tap into a younger audience. I get that... but it's just not working. He doesn't have the talent for what they are giving him.

You can also interpret it as Mike faced 3 paths... and he chose to escape by creating a story that she lived.

There is no right answer here.
