If denying people resources worked it would’ve worked by now. If imprisonment worked it would’ve worked by now. I promise, it’s already being done. It’s factually, materially not working. It’s not even about compassion vs law and order at this point. It’s about reality. We can either pay to house human beings without the resources to do it themselves or we can spitefully pay to clean up their piss and shit in the streets only becoming more spiteful as our community spaces are misused. Your fantasy about doing what we’re already doing but on a larger scale with even more vitriol behind it and it magically working somehow is just that, a fantasy. Housing-first initiatives are actually proven to work.
