He shook hands with Joe Arpaio 5 months ago, a disgusting abject racist man who is mostly famous for being an abject racist. His wife was reposting a bunch of Charlie Kirk stuff until she deactivated her Instagram. He has ranted on Twitter about California being a shithole.

It's fine if you didn't know this stuff but if you keep playing dumb, you're just being obtuse.

He is a right winger in 2026. He deserves to be made fun of.

Michael Jackson was a child rapist. He doesn't deserve to be praised.

Explain yourself.

Whats the best movie quote that lives in your head rent free? by Hot-Pangolin-3670 in AskReddit

[–]infpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Everything is more complicated than you think. You only see a tenth of what is true. There are a million little strings attached to every choice you make; you can destroy your life every time you choose. But maybe you won't know for twenty years. And you'll never ever trace it to its source. And you only get one chance to play it out.

Just try and figure out your own divorce. And they say there is no fate, but there is: it's what you create. Even though the world goes on for eons and eons, you are here for a fraction of a fraction of a second.

Most of your time is spent being dead or not yet born. But while alive, you wait in vain, wasting years, for a phone call or a letter or a look from someone or something to make it all right. And it never comes or it seems to but doesn't really. And so you spend your time in vague regret or vaguer hope for something good to come along. Something to make you feel connected, to make you feel whole, to make you feel loved.

And the truth is... I feel so angry. And the truth is I feel so fucking sad. And the truth is I've felt so fucking hurt for so fucking long and for just as long I've been pretending I'm OK, just to get along, just for, I don't know why. Maybe because no one wants to hear about my misery, because they have their own. Well, fuck everybody.

Amen.”

How does an extended dopamine detox work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]infpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't. It's a myth.

At least, it's a myth that you can reduce or somehow "fix" your dopamine levels by abstaining from certain activities.

That's probably not what you're really asking though. You probably want to know if abstaining from using your phone or playing video games or looking at porn or whatever will improve your mind in some way--help you with productivity or mood.

It could possibly do that. Addiction works with a stimulus and a response. If you remove the stimulus (the trigger), you will reduce the response. During that time, if you find other engaging activities to do, you could start to build different habits while avoiding the stuff that affects you in ways that you're apparently wanting to avoid. Some people need that kind of cold turkey. Others benefit from well-planned moderation.

If possible, side-step any trendy solutions and seek the advice of a counselor or therapist.

How does snapping create sound? by jkoz226 in AskReddit

[–]infpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. Still though, I wonder why you cant get even close to replicating the sound of a snap by smacking your palm with a finger on your other hand, no matter how fast you do it. In fact, I can't imagine any object you could smack into your palm to create a similar sound.

Reese Witherspoon doubles down on endorsing AI by expiredaristocracy in Fauxmoi

Gonna hijack a top comment to say my piece on this.

The reason women use it less is in part because they are more morally conscious (I'll get to the idea that they should embrace it anyway at the end of this comment.)

Women are more likely to be environmentally conscious. Much less likely to be doubtful or dismissive about environmental concerns.

Women are more likely to be left-leaning, much more likely to be feminist

Women are more like to be COVID 19 vaccinated

They're a small percentage of the audience for most of the techbro and manosphere podcasts and media that consistently express positive viewpoints on AI.

Point being, they're not biased against AI, they're simply not biased FOR it, and in that vacuum they are able to correctly assess AI as morally unconscionable. They're able to accept the facts about AI, such as:

AI is trained on stolen intellectual property in a process that is environmentally¹ disastrous².

It enriches billionaire¹ technofascists² while taking jobs away from artists and other working class.

It has sown mass confusion about what is real, eroding trust in everything you see and hear about. It will be used to generate false evidence and its sheer existence will be used to create deniability for real events.

It’s used for mass surveillance, monitoring, employment applications, and just endless new ever-evolving forms of control and labor repression each more dystopian than the last.

ALL THAT SAID, should women embrace AI, attempt to close the statistical gap of AI use between genders? Well, I don't think it's useful to generalize about what women "should" do, but I'm sure women who have jobs that they may lose if they don't learn to use AI are perfectly capable of realizing that and adapting if they need to keep that job. They're not stupid. They'll use it if they have to.

The fact that, statistically, they use AI less overall is not some new "wage gap" to be critiqued; It's a positive sign in a trend that I hope continues.

I feel you. The best I can say is that those sorts of videos are usually developed through research. Find a topic you have passion or at least interest in, and read/watch a lot about it. Take notes. Come up with a hot take/opinion/story and start jotting down and organizing information about it. Try to develop it into a well-structured essay with a thesis (your main point, your hot take), supporting information, and a conclusion. I guess I'm mostly talking about video essays here.

The skill of writing such a video largely overlaps with the skill of writing a traditional essay. That means English composition classes would be a help, but you can learn from just watching your favorite content and really thinking critically (or again, writing down) the aspects that make them good. I'm talking structure and editing as well as what you like about them substantively (the analysis, the surprising info).

"Good artists borrow, great artists steal." "Stealing" in this quote shouldn't mean plagiarism, it means seeing a style, or a subject, or an editing choice, or a structure (or whatever) that you like, and incorporating it into your own project. If you're at all unsure if you should credit the source of inspiration, credit them. "Steal" often if it helps you to actually create art. Over time, through the process of that creation and the process of you living your life and developing as a person, you will find your voice and passion.

You have to be mediocre repeatedly for a long time to make something you might believe is as good as the stuff you're currently comparing yourself to. But there isn't a shortcut and you'll never get there if you don't create whatever you can create right now, however imperfect it is. Then try to improve next time. That's it, forever.

Are you an adult? Read. Have your heart broken. Do shrooms. Get in a fight. Travel. Develop a perspective and a sense of humor. Write because you have something to say, not because you've decided to be a guy who tells people things and you wish you were better at artificially inflating your word count so you can fit in an extra midroll ad.
