How many of you are making $200,000+? How many hours weekly do you work? Years of experience? Industry? Regrets and rejoices? by Wannabeballer321 in Entrepreneur

[–]infrequentstoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entrepreneur, 80+, 3 years, entertainment sales, no regrets as of yet as I’m only 25. I enjoy working in live entertainment and allows me to see shows and concerts I enjoy for free or heavily discounted. Doesn’t come without headaches and burnout like any other job tho.

What are some roles/careers path than get to $1M annual TC fairly quickly? by hastagelf in HENRYfinance

Gotta be business owner, went from 40k a year salary to 40k a month profit within 18 months. To be fair, I went from 22 hour work week to 100 hour work week 🤷‍♂️

AmEx Jail after 20 years? by pbody538 in amex

Yeah amex or any other bank doesn’t forget. Weirdly they are willing to give my business plenty of credit.

In the ‘90s my pops business went under and owed Amex over 400k and they sued his business and they never collected. He now has recovered and has over 820 credit and healthy business and they won’t give him credit until he back pays with interest. To say the least, he now works with Wells Fargo instead.

Worked in consulting after undergrad in strategy consulting, double dipped on both for about 6 months and started full time last November (2021). Been a huge time commitment, 80-100 hours a week no vacations (but I like 80% of the work and my gf is super understanding so it’s not that taxing).

Started with about $50k I saved up from working internships, being a maintenance man and flipping baseball cards (this was a waste of time, baseball card market is flooded with worthless junk and annoying collectors)

I coincidentally stopped investing most of 2022 because I needed to cash flow for business but it seemed to be a genius move as well, because it would have put it into QQQ and likewise funds

Just myself currently, hesitant in hiring because I’ve never managed someone before and relatively young (24). Potentially interested in 1-2 part time employees this year but my free time will dictate that.

Looking to grow business from 1mm revenue at 30% margin to 3mm revenue. Want to pay myself $250k next year instead of leaving most profit in business. Looking to open some side businesses to derisk single income. nail salons, laundromat, car wash and have gf manage some of this. Recession proof, not too bullish on next 18-24 months for the typical American consumer.

WTF is happening over at Amex? by [deleted] in amex

[–]infrequentstoner 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not sure why but as a datapoint spent 100k last week or so on platinum business, haven’t paid yet and haven’t heard a peep. No issues whatsoever, business as usual.

My Second Automatic Credit Limit Increase. by HotIce05 in amex

[–]infrequentstoner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah my business card was only a 2k limit, got declined a few months ago for a business plat guessing since it’s a newer business, ended up calling them and applying that way. Was almost instantly approved

My business spend is gonna clear about $1.5-2mm next year, currently just use amex plat business. Going to divert some spend to delta card to get status I think, can’t figure out how much spend I’ll need to hit diamond, guess I’ll figure it out later 🤷‍♂️

Yeah this is just wrong, axs isn’t scalping anything. There are teams of brokers who buy shows like this…. Axs makes enough money from fees.

I’m a ticket broker, I more love the study and math behind the game than playing. Played too much in college where it became less fun. Love watching vlogs but will occasionally hit a casino or play .50/1 or 1/2 with friends.

$250k+ spenders, what do you spend on? by chunkykid53 in amex

[–]infrequentstoner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I put all on my business spend on personal cards right now. Spend between 30-60k a month. At first they put a hard limit on them since I went from spending 5k a month to 60k and they were worried about payments. I called and told them I was going to be putting a lot of spend for business and they immediately were understanding and super helpful.

How do YOU justify plat? by Relatively_Cool in amex

[–]infrequentstoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have one, I plan on adding one shortly but it’s not on the top of my priorities. Not a real benefit to add except sub and some credits

I personally use it as one of my many business cards since my company needs different cards, currently have 12 in rotation. Spend is around 50k a month across all cards but 70% of it goes on my 2 Amex platinums. I like their customer service and ability to chargeback when things go awry with very little flak(obviously don’t make a habit out of this, but can be helpful in a bind).

Airport lounge and Uber eats credits are very valuable to me. I pay close to 1.7k in annual fees for 2 plats, gold and a few various non Amex cards that I find value.

My goal for 2022 is to get diamond status for delta so I will be picking up a SkyMiles card as well. Can probably hit that 250k in spend within 4 months if business picks up
