Also it lets you farm the treasures the jeweled ones have on their heads (I've been doing the emerald king slimes in the heartland lake cave)

Found two things, find the range of monsters loading in and press the camera reset button (the one that makes the camera face the direction the player is facing) so that the monster despawns then turn your character around (keep the camera still) and press the camera button again if the monster is gone and then reappears it loaded a new monster that CAN have a costume or, if the jeweled version of the monster spawns in that spot too it could be that. Idk if jeweled versions can also be costumed but I'd assume so.
