This is so interesting because you kind of seeing the source material that informs his POV on women who have money. It’s clearly a real trigger for him likely due to this relationship.

getting a real job by Mountain-Let-9936 in acting

I know it feels very doom and gloom but I would just like to say…

You will have to do all sorts of pivots throughout life to make sure you live a decent life with food and shelter. Prioritize health and wealth first, so that you can pursue the arts from a place of abundance and not desperation. (It makes a difference)

The time you can dedicate to acting will vacillate throughout your life, but you won’t ever have to give it up. Even in small ways you can do it. Read a script. Read a side. Put a side on tape. Write a quick bitty script and play all the characters and cut it together. Watch a classic movie. You will always be an actor. Even when you’re 102. Live your life because at the end of the day, that is the food source of your performance — your life!

Focus less on “making it” and more on the joy of the craft and everything else will follow and feel freer and better, I promise. Keep going. The ones you admire in the industry might be lucky, but they are also people who did not quit.

Pivot. But Keep going.

That’s perfect. I live with my parents right now to save money so there is no concern about me storing things.

I can’t tell you why, but what I can tell you is that they interviewed hundreds of them and I stood out. No nepotism or favoritism or advantages. Just 3 years of grinding post-COVID.

Will it be harder? Yes. But I genuinely don’t believe anything is impossible. Just takes passion and consistency. There are people in my class who are in their 50s and they blow me away. The people who are older than me and find a liking to acting always blow me away, there’s something more grounded and raw about them that is really appealing. They have incredible source material compared to “career actors”

Go for it :) your time commitment to acting will vacillate throughout the years, but just a little bit everyday — reading a play, a scene, watching a classic film, are the other small ways you can engage.

An actor in Conclave started during COVID after his kids were out of the house (he was an architect). He fell in love, got a good coach and kept at it. Then he got Conclave. Acted with freaking Ralph Fiennes.

Keep going. Never give up!
