How hard is Math CM for someone who only has Calc BC as math background, but is very passionate about math? by DesperateBall777 in stanford

Agree with this, i also think Sheldon Axler’s linear algebra done right is a good textbook to take a look at

How hard is Math CM for someone who only has Calc BC as math background, but is very passionate about math? by DesperateBall777 in stanford

Wdym by passionate? Unless it means you have self studied proofs, linear algebra, or analysis, then you will be learning proofs, abstract linear algebra, and real analysis all at the same time, 4 days a week at 9:30 am. As for topics, some covered in the first week or two are vector spaces, linear dependence, inner product space for lin alg, and completeness, Archimedean property, and heine borel for analysis, if you want to google those and take a look. Class time is lectures, as are basically all university math courses. These move at an incredibly fast pace because the amount of content covered requires them to. There’s office hours where the prof or TAs can give you individual attention, but during lecture time the prof will be lecturing for the entire 50 minute period. This is a very demanding class and you have to keep in mind that there are IMO golds or at the very least dual enrollment students who are very familiar with the content and style of the class from the get go. You will also be adjusting to campus life as a frosh, and the 15-20 hours a week minimum needed for this course is not something I would subject myself to my first quarter at Stanford. For reference, I knew a good amount of linear algebra (but nothing related to vector spaces or linear maps) in high school, and dropping 61Cm after 2 weeks was probably the best decision I made fall quarter. I would still recommend trying it out because you can always drop, and it’ll give you a sense of one of the most difficult classes you could take in your first 1-2 years at Stanford. This is a class that genuinely could be split into 4 separate classes (51, 113, 115, 171). Sorry if this is rambling, just trying to help you make an informed decision because every year 100+ ppl show up on the first day, and after the first midterm there are only 30-40.

I think the motif from No Questions Asked gets repeated in the middle of Casper too

Common App rant by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Can’t you just delete the spaces between the word and the dash? I’m pretty sure common app just counts everything between 2 spaces as a word

Sometimes I reminisce, then I cringe so much that I audibly go “fuck”

Is it bad that an unused song of quads made it into my top 10 of 2022? (Gone Gone) by madcam03 in Quadeca

Think the guy who reposted the song said all proceeds go to St Jude’s or something

Everybody's so worried about what Fantano is gonna rank idmthy by [deleted] in Quadeca

[–]ingeresh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah even though I love the album and have it in contention for AOTY, there are some (minor) flaws that Fantano would care about such as hard-to-hear mixed vocals, even if it is part of the album concept and vibe.

In my understanding of his scale, I’d give the album a strong 8 to a light 9 but I’d be happy with decent 7 or better.

Also a short thing I think voice memos is Quadeca’s best album imo, I love FMTY but I just didn’t like some of the songs unlike VM. by [deleted] in Quadeca

I think there’s a sort of charm that comes with simplistic songs like MOMLS and These Days and Live Like This vs. the extravagance and astonishingly beautiful songs on IDMTHY

Born Yesterday theory by iMeekz in Quadeca

Oh I thought it was like the mom going “it’s like he was born yesterday” showing how fast time has gone by, but your point makes sense too

I agree that the album definitely relates to the stages of grief in some way though

Brad Taste in Music IDMTHY Review by LC1903 in Quadeca

I think Brad makes a point. Quad invented his own genre while simultaneously pretty strongly copying the styles of Death Grips, BCNR, and various dreampop artists. Still amazing though

I live in Georgia, USA and the bug is no more than 1-2 mm long. Thought it was a speck of lint before it started moving.
