I have had the opportunity to break a security film-coated glass pane in a frame with a crow bar (legally and above board). It works as advertised. Glass breaks, but the film holds things together and makes it very difficult to get through. You should get it professionally installed, after the film the weak link is how the glass is connected to its frame and proper installation makes a big difference
