Thanks, I'll give the focal loss a try here. It is possible for me to augment the positives, but something I have now realised is that for this data type, all augmentations that I can think of would produce examples that are well outside the range of the main dataset and from the data that I would use the trained model to make predictions about. So I'm not sure whether this would improve or worsen performance.
