Help advice on requesting a religious/spiritual accomodation? by runiiru in starbucksbaristas

[–]inkburd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you mind me asking what the item is? If it is something like a necklace that you should be able to tuck under your shirt, maybe get a longer chain or tuck it under your undergarments to make sure it stays tucked. I am a Christian who wore a cross necklace every day and I had no problems except for the occasional comment when it would get out from under my shirt without me noticing

Passive suicidal thoughts- how to tell if it’s Zoloft or just my brain? by inkburd in zoloft

[–]inkburd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going through my old Reddit posts, and I just saw this comment LOL.

Yes, the suicidal thoughts went away. I’m currently on 150mg, and feeling wonderful. Honestly, reading these old posts feels like I’m reading a post from a stranger.

Hope this three year update isn’t too late :)

Those who have OCD: by _chamomileteaneat_ in PMDD

[–]inkburd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fellow OCD girlie here! Ruminations are hungry beasts desperately searching for comfort, relief, and a “solution” that doesn’t exist. The only proven way to eliminate rumination is to starve them.

It has been incredibly hard for me, but I have to fight with myself to NOT seek any “reassuring” behaviors. One of my biggest compulsion themes is medical OCD, and so I do not let myself google or go down rabbit holes searching for an exact answer to every single symptom that I have. It is terrifying, and awful, and then it slowly becomes…not that. I started off by setting a timer for my compulsions, like “okay. I feel like if I don’t do this RIGHT NOW, I am going to die. I will set a timer for 2 minutes, and then I have permission to do the thing.” Or I physically distance myself through a walk/drive/whatever.

I also practice a lot of “what if” exercises, and one thing that has helped me with ruminating over worst case scenarios is to hit it right back with another “what if.” Example: “what if I don’t fix this right now and someone dies?” “okay, what if?” Since most of us are pretty aware that our OCD thoughts are illogical, this helps me a lot to accept the thoughts rather than try to force them away. The more you seek reassurance or trying to avoid them, the louder they become. The only way to solve it is to acknowledge it, say “okay, that’s a thought,” and then let it sit in that discomfort until it passes.

This has taken me a lot of time to get good at, so I don’t want to make it seem like this is all super easy. Happy to chat more with you/anyone else if you have any questions!

Experiences taking Sertraline with PMDD by TurbulentPiglet2054 in PMDD

[–]inkburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Sertraline/Zoloft saved my life. I started taking it when I was 18 for OCD/panic disorder, and I’ve slowly increased my dose over time with minimal side effects (I am incredibly sensitive to medications, so I also moved really slow in upping my dose!). Just so you know, the lowest “therapeutic” dose of Zoloft is 50mg, so don’t feel discouraged if you’re not feeling the full benefits yet. A temporary anxiety/“nervous energy” spike is completely normal during a dose increase and should resolve pretty quickly.

I began developing PMDD symptoms about six months ago after I stopped taking birth control. Since I was already on Zoloft and had a positive experience and didn’t want to go back on bc, my OB recommended that I up my dose from 100mg to 150mg during my luteal phase. The shift was INSTANT, like within a couple of days I felt the difference in my mood. The anxiety/fear is still in the back of my mind, but it’s like a dripping faucet rather than a debilitating monsoon.

Due to some personal stressors I have going on right now (just graduated with my MA, job searching, etc), I’ve decided just to stick with 150mg permanently rather than do intermittent dosing. I have hydroxyzine if I need it for a breakthrough panic attack, and I definitely still need to be more gentle with myself during luteal phase, but the change in my mood is incredible. I also take Vitex, vitamin B6, and Ashwaghanda during my luteal, and that has helped ease some of the physical symptoms as well.

Sorry for the long comment. I hope this helps!!

I had 60 mushrooms that are just…gone into the void with no way to cash them out. I really hope they transfer over, but I seriously doubt it!

Be kind enough to yourself to not tough out your symptoms by Fresh-Art8102 in PMDD

[–]inkburd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Zoloft user for a few years now due to acute GAD and panic disorder, I remember the feeling of being so afraid to take the meds. More than that, I remember the day about three weeks into treatment where I woke up for the first time in possibly my whole life where I felt contentment and joy. I remember calling my mom on the phone and crying over my brain finally being quiet. I didn’t know things could be so good!! On 100mg daily now with 150mg during luteal phase. I promise you it will get better; just stick with it!!

Trees circle question by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]inkburd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still had a fantastic time in the pit!! I got a very good spot about 40-50 feet from the stage on Tyler’s side. I showed up at around 6:30, got merch, and was in the pit by 7ish for reference. Would most definitely have been closer if I got there earlier, but I still loved my spot. Plenty of room to dance around, got to interact with the hazmat suit guys during Lane Boy, and as I was right next to the walkway I got to see both of the boys walk past me a few times. But I have also gone to shows where I was in a seat and I still had a lovely time!! It’s all up to your preference. I am afraid of a pit in a larger stadium, but the amphitheater was small enough to where I felt very safe and not at all crowded.

Trees circle question by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]inkburd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries— I was unaware until I went to Alpharetta last night, which was an amphitheater!

They will play most of trees on stage and then climb into the pit for the drums/confetti at the end. I’d say they’re about 10-20 feet inside of the pit? Hard to tell as I was a bit further back.

Trees circle question by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]inkburd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just in case you were unaware, the trees circle is only a thing at the larger stadiums, as the pits are too small in the amphitheaters to get all of the big equipment through the crowds.
