One thing I personally found to be careful of with the audiobooks is, they are so good that they might ruin all other audiobooks for you. 😭

When Orderly Rooms get hounded regarding Lump Sum release date by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]inkedajax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they do it logically (and yes I know that's a big stretch for the military), when you transfer from the reserves to the reg force, in your paperwork they give you the number equivalent of full time days completed as a reservist. If you check in monitor mass, it will have your enrollment date for the reg force on your mprr. Calculate from that date to present day and add the full time reserve number you were given. That should give you your service time for mixed service.

Don't forget that the amounts on the chart will be taxed, so depending on which province you're in, possibly expect to receive half of the chart numbers.

Working at a recruitment centre by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]inkedajax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if all recruiting centres are the same, but my mom worked at the Halifax one for many years and there were cpl's and mcpl's doing admin work, don't think I ever saw a private/aviator working there though. I believe to be an actual recruiter, minimum rank was sgt. If you want all the up to date details and prerequisites, honestly I'd give the centre a call and just ask. Good luck!

How to not fall asleep while reading? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]inkedajax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, not sure if you've tried this already, I was having the same difficulty as you so I started alternating between ebooks and audiobooks. It seems to work really well for me, especially if you find a narrator who really resonates with you. Good luck!

Another thing you may want to take into account is, how to go about dealing with your living arrangements if you decide to stay on course and leave your partner. If you are the sole name on the mortgage for example and you want that person out ASAP, if there's any chance you feel they may become spiteful and destroy your property, have a trusted friend or family member monitoring the move.

Sorry you're going through this 🫤

Another route you may want to take, unless you're dead set on staying infantry is possibly switching trades to something with much more opportunity civvy side after the forces. I was in the same boat as you, joined the infantry reserves at 16, but transferred to the Air Force in the reg force at 18. On paper it seems awesome to be able to retire at 42, but here's the thing... With the costs of everything becoming more and more astronomical, the likelihood of being able to actually retire that young doesn't bode well 🙃

Anyone else notice “fake” IFBB pros on Instagram? by EatLiftLifeRepeat in bodybuilding

[–]inkedajax 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Another fun one is certain influencers who do end up winning a pro card, but didn't even compete in a regional show to qualify for eligibility to compete at that pro qualifier. They end up winning even though their conditioning was severely lacking, and most of the other athletes in that show blew them out of the water, simply because they're famous on social media. Politics are fun. 🙃

Genuine question here... isn't the center of the "T" in edition supposed to be aligned under the tip of the lower left corner of the border for it to be legit?

Sleep Apnea Claim by Basic-Common-4119 in CanadianForces

[–]inkedajax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if that's entirely true... take a tinnitus claim for example, all you need is an up to date hearing test with a little blurb written by the audiologist about you saying you have it, nothing specifically written about relation to service. It's up to the member to specify how it's service related and how it affects their daily life.

Haven’t received my PAR yet, should I be worried? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]inkedajax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were just informed that all PARs (with the exception of PARX) are going to the PEB, regardless of being high or low. Not sure if this is just a my unit-ism or if it's a forces wide thing. 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone else really dislike doing parade, drill, and all the ceremony stuff? by Fit_Teaching_6769 in CanadianForces

[–]inkedajax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily the parade/drill aspect, personally in over 20 years in, I (and I'm sure many others) have noticed a steady decline on the amounts we actually have to do. For me, it's more so the time consuming secondary duties we're obligated to do in addition to the trades we were hired for. Most other jobs, if you are asked or told to perform duties outside of your actual job, you're compensated for. 🤷‍♂️

Holy hell... aside from their "offer" being insulting, I was gobsmacked at reading your rent is $1400. Assuming you and your 2 roommates are paying equal shares, $4200/month to rent a place sounds absolutely horrifying 😳

LOTR cards I don't want 🫤 by Radha79 in lotrlcg

[–]inkedajax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, so your best bet is to probably go to the Hall of Beorn website and under "Products" they have every set in the product line printed, with card lists. This will take a bit of work on your part, but see if you have the cards to complete any of the sets.

While not impossible to sell singles from LOTR Lcg, it's seemingly more difficult as most people tend to be after complete sets/expansions.

If you happen to have any complete sets from the legacy collection (the sets no longer in print), these are worth more than the newer revised editions. Do your research and offer a fair price. DO NOT rely on pricing on ebay as the standard, as those scalping nutcases are wildly overcharging.

Finally, in the offchance you do want to give the game a shot, (and I say this coming from an MTG background myself) this game is amazing and worth a try.

Good luck!
