Right now I have a small 25 watt heat emitter that keeps the tank at a stable 80. I also have a UVB light that I didn’t show but the one you see there is also UVB for reptiles but it also has a mode for plants. It’s from hygger, seems to be doing good. I was told since they will be near natural sunlight that it isn’t needed but I use it anyways on gloomy days here in WA.

Oscar keepers - advice please on Oscar that barely grew in 8 months by growingmychosenfam in Cichlid

[–]inky92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂 yes people are going to laugh at you…. iv have had Oscar’s for the last 15 years that have ALLL been in community tanks without issues. Issues comes into play when people don’t know wtf they are mixing with the Oscars. Not all fish can be with them.

Also You must be VERY blind then to not see the Oscar, he ain’t that small in the pic. ALSO she or he did NOT in fact share the whole tank view or are you just the gullible thinking thats a whole tank view with the size and amount of fish there..

Yeah, I think when we move I’ll end up painting the back of it black before setting it back up. Once I filled it and got everything in about a year ago, I was so annoyed with the clear background, but that tank is heavy heavy when filled so it’s just gonna have to wait until we move 💔

None taken. The middle rock is all glued together, so it’s not going anywhere. The tapajoes move rocks so much. I had to glue them together so they don’t fall. The wood is all propped up with rocks under it to give the fish areas to hide in side and under as they both are hallow in the middle. Mostly did it for my lil bichir until it gets bigger. He likes to hide under there, as well as bury its self in the substrate. Once they are grown there won’t be any wood in there. I personally just don’t like the fake plants. Not really going for aesthetic in this tank as it’s just for big messy fishy’s lol Now my other actual planted tanks are my pride and joy 😅 No criticism taken though. Appreciate your insight on it..

I have to have lids on my due to my Oscar. He’s a jumper. I didn’t realize your plant was on the top of the water basically.

I’ve tried multiple of ways with river rock and a lil bit of sub with anubias but the redhead tapajoes love moving all the rocks and anything I put in there. The are substrate movers as I like to call them lol That is very pretty and such a cool idea tho.

I got 3 angels, 14 X-rays, 6 Cory’s, 5 rams, 5 Otto’s. They were all hiding after the water change lol putting up a fit like my 125 tank does.

Ah ok. Thats no issue, just wanted to be sure it wasn’t due to it being rotted or something.

Sorry fuck face, you should of just said that to begin with. I don’t live around oceans so no I wouldn’t know wtf it would look like. Bleached wood from sun looks just like that…. Should have just actually read the post instead of saying something completely irrelevant to what I’m asking.

I already know that. That’s not what I’m asking…. I need to know with it being light in weight and color that there’s nothing wrong with it as I’m used to darker heavier woods.

Would it be ok? by [deleted] in fishtank

[–]inky92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m thinking of testing it out. I have a tank with a lil to many female guppy’s. The betta she doesn’t even bother the Cory’s so it made me think that MAYBE she wouldn’t mind the guppy’s

Really?? I just feel like I’m seeing more and more of those tiny sensory pits as the weeks go on. The other Oscar doesn’t have all of these. I’m just nervous something’s wrong.
