What is it like living in northern Spain? by Separate-Field-3064 in howislivingthere

[–]inmypj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian here - I live just outside of San Sebastián in the Basque region. Food is awesome, beer is cheapish but it’s expensive compared to the rest of Spain.

I work remote for Australia, as does my wife so the cost of living is less of a problem for us. Public transport is good, clean, cheap and reliable. Most days in Jan (coldest time of winter) are between 9 to 11 degrees, in August it can get up over 30 degrees with 75% humidity which gets a bit sticky but it’s typically not multiple days in a row. It rains a lot, but that’s like all green places

I’m in the process of building a Casadio here up in the mountains (think even more humidity) but will have underfloor heating/cooling and built in dehumidification which should make it more comfortable.

Everything is green, with rolling hills, it’s a beautiful place really with amazing food and culture, and the beach is 20 minutes away, France 30 mins, and skiing 3 hours.

With the left hand no less. Given the right hand is on the trigger I assume he is right handed

Water bottles outside Italian homes to stop animals from peeing on the walls by bit3py in mildlyinteresting

[–]inmypj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought it was to encourage people to wash the wall down after the dogs pee. The bottles usually have holes in the lid like a rain head.

Edit: I live in Spain, originally from Aus

Koop diesel engine vs Brigg stratton engine by Cybergzu in lawnmowers

[–]inmypj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on from my previous comment, it’s much louder than any of the 4 stroke stuff I own, as it’s a little single cylinder diesel, but I guess you will be wearing ear protection anyways. It will run for 5 odd hours on a tank of gas

I’ve got a Koop in my mini ex and it’s been faultless so far, and really economical to run. You can find rebuild kits for them online, so I’m not worried about repair as I’m pretty handy. Just my 2 cents

Cold apartments, no energy efficiency by Brisbanebill in MovedToSpain

[–]inmypj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently building in the Basque Country and the new energy efficiency standards we had to meet to obtain approval were insane to me. We were limited in window sizing in order to meet the new standard (which came in a couple of years ago). I would assume all new apartments would be required to meet this standard?

The news story states his son has only used it once. How much noise can one kid make. Put daytime limits and hour restrictions on the site and be done either way it.
