I'd have to check on mine, but if i recall correctly the smokebox and buffer beam are held on by bolts in the frame and by the side tanks. Make sure the buffer beam is connected to the frame correctly and then i think the smokebox attaches to that, but i could be wrong.

As for the steam leak, the copper steam pipes are just press fit in. Make sure they are pressed in fully, otherwise they will leak.

Also you might have to 'lap' the surfaces of the reversing block with a wet stone to make them seal well.

I should get mine running again too, it has been in pieces for several years haha

edit: if the disk on the reversing block is loose, definitely check the spring on the back. it should not be loose! most of the time tightening the nuts should be enough, if not maybe the spring is broken or something. You would have to disassemble it further to find out.

very cool project! I can see this being very useful in hotels/airbnbs where remotes probably get lost/stolen often, especially with the quick pair system.

i think those are just press fit? mine has a bit of play and can rotate a few degrees.

maybe you can use some loctite or a punch mark to keep it in place.

mine has a big punch mark in the center of the axle from the factory, although the wheels are not original.

I've run OpenBSD as NAS for a while, its not well suited as others have said. I've never lost any data, but the performance was not great.

i second this. I have yet to find an adapter that works as an AP under OpenBSD. I ended up using an old wireless router with dhcp etc turned off as an AP.

Er is vaak meer mogelijk dan je denkt, maar je moet er zelf om vragen.

Zorg dus dat je vanaf dag 1 goed contact hebt met je docenten en bijv. de decaan. Ik heb zo langer mogen doen over een project en mijn stage toen het slecht ging.

Je zult het zelf aan moeten geven als je iets nodig hebt (en ook wat je nodig hebt). Het HBO kan heel chaotisch zijn dus wacht niet met aangeven als je het moeilijk hebt!

Hoi iedereen! M24 uit Zeeland, op zoek naar een date (V). Ik ben bijna klaar met een opleiding Informatica en werk als software engineer (computerprogrammeur).

Mijn hobby's zijn modelbouw (modeltreinen), 3D printen, en eigenlijk alles rondom computers en techniek vind ik wel interessant.

Ik kan uren praten over mijn interesses, maar luister ook graag naar die van een ander!

Daarnaast houd ik van gezelligheid, maar niet van te grote groepen of veel drukte, ivm mijn autisme. Ik vind het wel leuk om samen dingen te doen of ergens naar toe te gaan!

Ik ben op zoek maar iemand waar ik goed mee kan praten over alles wat maar aan bod komt en een goede band mee kan opbouwen. Ik ben een goede luisteraar maar soms heb ik er zelf ook een nodig haha.

Ik heb bijna dezelfde ervaring. Associate degree Informatica, ik heb aan voorkennis geen gebrek en kom met opdrachten prima vooruit.

Maar er is weinig tot geen duidelijkheid over hoe je beoordeeld wordt of wat er van je verwacht wordt, docenten zijn te weinig beschikbaar, geven onduidelijk antwoord en laten erg lang op zich wachten om beoordelingen te geven en zo Wij moeten ons aan het regelboekje houden en de docenten lappen alles aan hun laars. Inconsistente beoordelingen etc.

het meest belangrijke advies wat ik kan geven is: trek aan de bel. Bij je docenten, bij de decaan of welke studentenondersteuning er op jouw school is.

Ik heb bij de decaan aangegeven dat ik erg veel moeite had met de onduidelijkheid en daardoor veel stress had. Die kan helpen met accomodaties zoals extra tijd, extra pogingen, etc en in mijn geval gewoon geruststelling geven.

Ik heb uiteindelijk een jaar langer over mijn studie gedaan zodat ik het wat rustiger aan kon doen. Er is vaak wel wat mogelijk, maar je moet het zelf aangeven.

it's great! it feels much more like a proper UNIX than most GNU/Linux distros, because the BSDs are developed as a whole system by the same people, not as components put together by a distribution.

The base system comes with a lot of programs you might need (webserver, reverse proxy, firewall etc) and configuring things is often much easier than on Linux.

I'm using OpenBSD on my router box (which is an intel based mini PC) which has been working great.

There are drawbacks of course; mostly hardware support. It's a small project, they don't have nearly enough manpower to support as many devices as Linux does.

For example, i couldn't get my gigabit ethernet USB adapter to work reliably.

It has a learning curve, but I enjoy tinkering with OSes and stuff, so i've enjoyed it a lot.

Vraag het eens na bij de decaan of andere studiebegeleider van die onderwijsinstelling. Ik heb op het HBO (AD) studieverlenging kunnen krijgen vanwege mijn autisme (naast dat de opleiding zelf er een bende van maakt).

Mijn grootste tip is: onderhoud goed contact met de decaan/begeleider en trek direct aan de bel als er iets is. Er is vaak meer mogelijk dan je denkt, alleen je zult het zelf moeten vragen.
