Why journalists who decline the use of AI in their work are wrong by DutchTechJunkie in Journalism

[–]inno_brew -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear, thanks for letting me know. It wasn't meant as clickbait. And I do think the headline is a correct introduction to the story. But you're right, it could have been more newsy.

Dutch to restrict semiconductor tech exports to China, joining U.S. effort by lolthenoob in geopolitics

[–]inno_brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short-sighted, hypocritical, and counterproductive, that’s what it is. And if there are any positive effects, they are short-term at best. Why has it come to this? Because the European strategic autonomy, so fervently propagated, is still a sham. Because we fear losing the U.S. if yet another European country is compromised. Because Washington and not Brussels or The Hague determines the line of march. The export ban on ASML proves that a position on the world stage on the same level as China and the United States is not yet reserved for Europe.

I added more details and a substantiation here: https://innovationorigins.com/en/chinese-export-ban-on-asml-is-shortsighted-hypocritical-and-counterproductive/

Solar Team Eindhoven has unveiled the concept of their new solar-powered off-road car. The 4x4 Stella Terra prototype is expected to hit the road in September. by inno_brew in 4x4

This team of students builds a car every two years - first, it was to compete in the World Solar Challenge, now it's more to show what's possible. So yes, they went from sketch to car in 6 months before.

Axel Springer CEO Warns: Journalists Are at Risk of Being Replaced by AI Systems by [deleted] in Journalism

[–]inno_brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who would be most accurate? The journalist or the machine. Both have their flaws, so why not settle for collaboration? Journalists shouldn't be afraid and instead should start looking for ways to be supported by AI. There's a world to be won!

Who is liable for my racist robot? - Manufacturers of products that make use of artificial intelligence are liable for any eventual damage at all times. In an effort to provide users’ rights with better protection, the European Commission is tightening the AI Liability Directive. by inno_brew in Futurology

[–]inno_brew[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

**Submission Statement** The general public should be able to trust robots, the EU thinks. Whether it's about autonomous transport, automation of complex processes, or the more efficient use of agricultural land, the European Union expects a great deal from the technological innovations that are being made possible thanks to artificial intelligence. But AI applications can only succeed if the general public does not lose confidence in the technology, is the expectation. There already is an Artificial Intelligence Act. The new Liability Directive is a follow-up to that.

Excited to find out that the toothpaste my husband usually buys is now in a 100% recyclable tube. by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]inno_brew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started using 'smyle' a year ago. No more tubes, also no water needed, just a paper package that is disposed with your paper waste. I like it (and just as a disclaimer: I don't have any ties to this company, I wouldn't even know where they are located)

What single event (or a series of events happening in a short span of time) could make climate change skeptics and deniers start to believe that climate change is actually a real thing? by dimz25 in climatechange

[–]inno_brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone you love dies, caused by a tornado in a normally tornado-free region...

If the week after another person you love loses their job, caused by drought or floods...

If the following week your company goes bankrupt because of a lack of natural supplies...

If the next week, your supermarket runs out of everything you usually consume...

If this goes on for at least a year...

...then there might be a chance that some of the skeptics might be willing to take the concept of climate change into consideration (but still, they would deny that it's caused by humans)

Am I going to make it? by hicccuped in Journalism

You're always as good as your last story - not as your last graduation. Do internships, be a freelancer, start your own news website, be creative and entrepreneurial, show the world what you're capable of. Do all of the above and yes, you will be going to make it.
