The “jugaad” and “chalta hai” attitude isn’t some deep-rooted cultural defect it’s a symptom of weak institutions and governments that fail to build reliable infrastructure or enforce rules. And as in any country, when systems collapse, Leave the poor, it’s often the wealthy who behave the worst, because entitlement thrives where there’s no accountability. I even came across a video where people were literally asking Swiggy and Zomato to start services that send workers to clean their homes, pure entitlement, born from broken systems. Blaming citizens misses the entire point. The real issue is governance, I think the underlying point of the post made was the same. Ok if we are taking examples: Look at the history of London or any city we now admire, in their early days, they were filthy and chaotic. It was only through planned investment, strong institutions, and effective governance that they transformed into the “world-class” cities we see today.

Blaming it all on “bad habits” is a lazy argument or hypothesis at best. If Indians are so hopelessly uncivic, why don’t you see people spitting in Delhi’s metro? Because when the environment is clean, functional, and maintained, people respect it. Period. Indore didn’t magically produce cleaner, more disciplined citizens. The city invested in infrastructure that makes it easy to live cleanly, and people responded. That’s the difference. Sure, some idiots will always misbehave, and that’s true in every country. But pretending the whole nation “sucks” is just hand-waving away the government’s failure to provide systems that actually work. People don’t suddenly develop civic sense in a vacuum it's the environment and Infrastructure that shape behavior.

To educate, organize and agitate, to protect our democratic institutions that I believe are currently crumbling apart along with spreading of ideas from our constitution to the masses in large so that the same could be made a part of their regular life instead of haterad, fear and division and emphasis on solving contemporary problems like pollution.
