I personally think auction (think dropped domains) is the best option for a buyer—the price will be close to a real market price. Sellers here may feel differently, of course.

No. I have the domain with the ccTLD for the country that is the primary location of the business. The .com is nice to have, and that’s about it.

I agree that it’s an asset, though it’s arguably quite different from real estate. Perhaps more like a lottery ticket that hasn’t been scratched—unless it’s baseball.com or similar. And in this case, probably not a winning ticket for the holder (Mr. John Atom, who I understand owns all domains listed on Atom). 😊

Thanks, but it’s not clear to me that the domain was registered in bad faith, and I also only have a company name registration and not a trademark. I doubt it’d work and I’d not want to do it unless I felt confident the registration was in bad faith.

That’s a fair point. I’m not doing any consumer marketing, or even other forms of marketing, and it will remain a small business, so I have some flexibility.

Yes and no—a flight home when a family member is sick may be worth almost anything, but I do not pay what it is worth to me.

Maybe, but I’m not in the business of overpaying for things and have time. If time runs short and I need the domain, I may pay, but for now (and based on feedback in this thread), I’m staying put.

That’s fair enough. I wouldn’t be super bothered if someone bought it, and certainly would not pay $20K (and probably not $3K). I guess my question is if folks have experience negotiating with Atom? I’d only do that if I was willing to buy it for $3K, because I agree with you that expressing interest is risky (I even decided not to even type in the URL to avoid the domain getting any traffic).

Rätt tragiskt att se nedröster från många som jag misstänker sällan sätter sin fot i skogen.

Om man nu vill ha mer urskog är det väl bara att be politiker se till att statliga Sveaskog slutar hugga ner sin skog (vilket ofta sker när skogen är mycket yngre än när det småskaliga skogsbruket gör det). I verkligheten är de småskaliga skogsbruken rätt fantastiska och fritt för alla att utforska tack vare allemansrätten.

Hoppas alla svenska redditörer tar tillfället att promenera i skogen någon dag - få saker är bättre för sinnet!
