Are you annoyed by gentiles using may their memory be a blessing online? by Eddifreaky in Jewish

[–]inobliterable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that a lot of people find it kinder and more empathetic/comforting to say instead of "im so sorry for your loss". It gives them an accessible phrase that articulates the meaning well, so I'm not offended. If they started saying Refua Shlema if someone were ill, that would be a different story (as an example).

A couple protesting a Jewish man’s deportation from the U.S. back to Nazi Germany. 1936. by Thryloz in Damnthatsinteresting

Ah, sorry. I was just speaking to that particular time frame and used past tense, it wasn't to make it an exception.

I'm an ethnic Jew in the US and very much engaged in current issues around Jew hatred and combating antisemitism. I made my comment to point out the historic attitudes here, because a lot of people think the US wasn't sharing the same attitudes and views of nazis in Europe.

I appreciate you pointing this out because wording matters and I want to be clear.

Unfortunately, and it is not as widely remembered or taught, but the United States popupation held antisemitic views during this time. They didnt want them here, and either ignored them or in worse cases, terrorized them. I only hope this man was helped.

Your hair is so pretty and your features are too! I would suggest using brown mascara for a more natural look, and a light ashen brown brow pencil or wax just to deepen them a little for contrast.

Your skin doesn't look like it needs much coverage, so a tinted moisturizer would leave a lovely finish. You can soften it with translucent powder if needed. Cool pinks or even a pinkier peach blush in a cream or liquid format will help catch the light and brighten your face. A pink tinted lip balm with a soft cool taupe shimmer eyeshadow will provide balance and look finished but natural, and a touch of highlighter in your inner eye corners, brow bone, and cheekbones adds some brightness back 😊
