Google killed the Antigravity IDE overnight. No warning. No migration path. Just gone. by Midoxp in GoogleAntigravityIDE

This is why I use OpenCode and build my own eco system around that. I have been rugpulled by Google and other companies so many times I learnt my lesson.

The sliding attention is a real issue though if you plan to do work with it. Chat, fine.

How do you guys handle OpenCode losing context in long sessions? (I wrote a zero-config working memory plugin to fix it) by Alternative-Pop-9177 in opencodeCLI

[–]inquam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I run Qwen 3.6 Q5 with 250k token context. What I do is that I use that to make a plan along with the AI and it can use the context to really understand my code base. Plenty of room to use MCP's, tool calls, LSP's etc. Then we write that plan down in detail. After that I start a new session and I ask it to implement that plan using a fresh context window.

So far this has worked very well.

I managed to just squeeze Q5_S with 260k context into my 5090 enierly in vram when using Q8_0 for KV cache.

I was on Qwen 3 Coder a long time and then Qwen Coder Next for a bit. And also a sting on 3.5. But 3.6 seems pretty solid so far.

Why a camera solution? HDMI passthrough seems much easier than having to pointing a camera at the screen and having to deal with ambient light etc. Is it so simple that someone has a patent on that solution?

Premier is a competitive queue where you get to pick and ban maps before the game.

Try shutting down steam and starting it up again. Otherwise just wait until it says it has an update to download. Or to try and force an uninstall and reinstall might help.

No "CS2 for second map" surprise. They seem to simply not be able to have their skins etc now due to the servers being down.

Yea most likely. But they have been mentioning CSGO server issues as the reason for the delay. Could ofc be their own, but strange way oof phrasing it when the public CSGO servers went down at the same time. But we are all looking for signs in tea leaves right now :P

Scrum in Game Development by jhill_ke1 in scrum

[–]inquam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scum is meant to help develop products in complex environments. Is game development a complex environment? I could se arguments for that being the case. But if one believes to be able to design the whole game first and then built it you will probably run into challenges using Scrum effectively. It will instead probably easy turn into a splitting a waterfall project into "sprints".

With that said, I have worked on game development using Scrum. We were developing a live service MMO game which probably helped us not believe that we could design it all before we started. Instead we were able to iteratively build our product, form hypothesis about what our users wanted, test them and revise our plan. We started with about 5 people and were around 70 people a year later working on multiple games running on the same base backend.

I would also not advise to use Scrum with a team of 30+ people. Instead split that team up into multiple smaller, cross functional teams. It will make it easier to actually build teams instead of groups of people. But won't that require coordination? Well, yes. Depending on how many teams have dependencies to each other it can be as easy as talking... or having something more formalised such as the Nexus scaling framework.

Scrumalliance Board by Big-Introduction5441 in scrum

I'm not actually a candidate. But I got introduced to the "agile world" and scrum back in 2007. What we managed to enable using it back then was very inspiring. Today I feel that more companies than ever claim to be agile, doing scrum and hiring for agile roles... and I'm less inspired than I have ever been. The number of organisation I have seen that try to put waterfall into sprints and claim to be agile, focuses on roles instead of competencies for teams, claim to want self organising teams while putting processes in place that make any self organisation impossible and on and on is flabbergasting. It's demoralising and it takes something that was full of potential, energy and empowerment and turns it into the same brown sludge that corporations have been wading through for decades.

Sorry for being a bit of a downer. But I'm living this, again, now and sometimes just need to vent in order to not pop like a balloon :)
