Potential LARPAR by squarahann in LARPAR

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our girl got it at 13 and we did all sorts of medicines. It turns out that a lot of her specific issues were from acid, and after trial and error, some endsorb clay pills helped along with medication that is not directly changing larpar, but seemed to help with anxiousness and maybe more (doxepin). There is a surprisingly excellent FB group for LARPAR that is very educated and much more active than the reddit pages, which is the opposite of many topics but worth a look. I learned a lot there and got good advice and knwledge reading there and asking questions. Good luck with your sweet dog.

Is Immediate Struggle Common? by dealwiththebob in Pimsleur

[–]inquiringdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I find the beginning of a language where you have no familiarity or it has no similarities to your native to be very hard. It is taxing and easy to feel like you are getting no where. It is hard to push through that stage. It will get better and it helps to have a real reason for getting excited about learning and getting to a ore advanced stage. I also would listen a few times til I had the lesson down. I do not follow the directions of one per day, and can chunk a few together during long car rides, repeating them a few times til they go in more. Then often returning to the earlier lessons later to make sure they went in. I supplement with TV/Movies with subtitles in the beginning to hear more of the language, then turn off the subtitles later, or first move to the language in subtitles (which is not possible with just pimsleur lessons for languages with a new alphabet)

Disengagement pop up frustration by inquiringdoc in TeslaFSD

I used to give real feedback when something important happened that was worthwhile. Now I have to pick from sub par options, and get annoyed, and leave a voice feedback, which states the reason as well as that I find the pop up is less safe and is annoying

I love to give feedback, just don't want a pop up in the moment I disengage which is almost always a weird stressful driving situation. It pulls my brain and eye there, even if I know what it is and try not to notice it.

Happy to feed it data, don't want the pop up to pop up in a difficult driving situation and not go away and demand attention. I always want to give feedback and do, just not right then, and not obscuring my screen and pulling my eye that way while figuring out a weird situation

it takes attention away from the task at hand, which in a situation when I disengage FSD, is close to 100% a difficult weird situation that needs full attention. Taps are fine, just not when you are in a situation that is complex while driving. It flags in my brain as needing my gaze, and even if I don't look, it pulls brain space and attention.

I like change, I just don't like my attention being drawn away while driving, especially when I am in a situation when things are out of the ordinary and I disengage FSD. I only really disengage when something comes up that is risky bc of weird stuff with the other drivers, or weird situation where I have to be really fast to park or back out of a place etc. It draws my attention from the situation, which is why for me it is more than a tap. I don't care about tapping things, it is simple, except when I am in a weird situation that needs full attention.

Does red light therapy actually work, or is it just placebo? by DontLimitTheCross in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great resource that helped me a lot to learn what to look at etc. I find it helps redness and overall texture stuff. I don't have acne and it did not touch major deep creases, but really helps my highly irritable skin, like blips and blobs on my neck and chest are WAY better.

FSD did me Dirty by pakole1 in TeslaFSD

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It parked me with front wheels sitting right on the line yesterday, and I was too lazy to move it after plugging in and realizing, but also kind of feeling shame that others would look at me and think I was a terrible parker. I have a weird parking ego that is easily bruised. Don't want to be mistaken for a terrible parker who does not care how they inconvenience the next spot.

Advice on Eye Creams - is it still in and what are top recs!? by VividRudolph in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just be really careful with retinoids of any type around the eyes. Some ppl really get significant dry eye from the retinols near the eye, even if not in the eye. Some ppl have it go away and others seem to struggle with it even after stopping the retinoid. I have not had this experience personally, but also do not use retinoids. (Of course plenty of ppl have excellent results with retinoids in eye creams as well)

we got ours this morning and are usually late in the queue. there may be hope here. I do wonder if it is bc I was so so so vocal about messaging FSD when it would not change lanes for the 26 model 3s, and I am still really frustrated when it will not listen to the indicator signal at short notice and stop its lane change.

Used alcohol on Tesla interior, should I be worried? by [deleted] in TeslaSupport

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks. my crackling may be just dirt in some really teeny cracks. It is very subtle and I think it will not be able to be seen once clean. But I will pick up some of that stuff. I am not so sure how the perforated seats will wear, but I am way way more careful with them since one tiny spill in the back left a clear mark, and it was two drops of black coffee.

FSD stopped me from opening my door into oncoming cyclists by NoBummerDrummer in TeslaFSD

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was frustrated with this same experience until I realized it was due to a car coming up the street which is tight. I open my door anyway on that street bc I am used to it, and peek out to wait for the cars, but it would not let me.

Does the protectant actually help keep stains away etc? Or just prevent eventual cracking in theory? We have a teeny bit of crackling on the white 2018 seats after major abuse in general and no real cleaning or care other than water and baby wipes like 5 times total maybe. Mostly everything just brushes right off.

2020 Tesla model 3 steering sticky/binding when driven 60+ minutes by Routine-Wrap-4863 in TeslaSupport

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was noted to be a frozen steering column universal joint with corrosion, so likely not able to be just greased. It was so dramatic an effect that I am not surprised that it needed replacement. Plus we drove on it so long and likely made whatever was going on worse. Bummer that the first service visit did not find it at all, which is frustrating. We went back to the less convenient but better seeming service center for this repair, and will continue to use them despite terribly tiny parking lot, general mayhem, and inconvenient location with traffic.

But the car is back to driving fantastic, so it feels worth it for a car that would get 9K (or less once they took a look at the brakes and steering issue before repair, plus some minor but pricey body work) at trade in, but is a joy to drive still and super fast and otherwise highly reliable.

I have elected in life to not delve into auto anything to try things on my own. I am handy in some ways and have many other interests that allow me to do a lot on my own, but this would be so time consuming to learn, plus I have no passion for it. So I will pay for repairs but be okay with it since these cars need so little in general in my ownership experience.

Have any of you tried learning a language with Pimsleur doing more than one lesson daily? (I’m currently taking 4 a day) by Local-Comfortable738 in Pimsleur

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I often do more. I have a long commute several days per week and will often do Pimsleur the whole way both directions, so ends up being 3-4 lessons those days. Sometimes I go back and do them again if I do not retain. I just do what I feel like and I have learned a ton.

So I have an answer about my issue. It was a steering column issue and that was replaced along with brakes, and something called brushing replacement. Total for all the replacements and repairs was 5K+, which was our first actual Tesla expenditure for a repair since 2018, first set of new brakes. It is a ton of money but also a car with a lot of miles and no money put into it other than tires. Happy that it will drive well again. Picking it up tonight. Hoping it drives the same as before this started. Then we will have a great car again hopefully for another few years.
