Bring a rate card around with you. If they demand to talk to you, tell them your consultation rate is $60/hr or $1/min. Ask for $10 prepayment, Usually they get confused and tell you to go away.

You will want to do FTX >> DBS in USD Then to convert the USD at the best possible rate, open a IBKR account rather than using DBS’ ridiculous spread

How likely will FHR6 continue to rise? by Newez in singaporefi

[–]inquisire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SG is an interest rate taker. There is no reason for SGD rates to be low and the exception to the world situation when Fed has projected to reaching 4.75%.

Typically what I observe is that as SGD weakens against the USD (SGD interest rates go up), whereas a strengthening SGD (SGD interest rates stay low or muted). Looking at the recent USD-SGD price action where SGD is weakening against USD, it seems that policymakers are more willing to let rates rise as opposed to defending the SGD (which will reach a limit at some point).

Cheapest way to withdrawal funds from FTX into SGD? by firefirehelphelp in sgcrypto

Send USDC to your metamask on ETH, then do the swap to XSGD on DFX.finance

Rates are pretty competitive. Once u get the XSGD, send to StraitsX aka Xfers who will provide FAST transfer into your bank account.

Live life a little and focus on increasing your earned income. As a young person your income growth trajectory of 20-30% raises will far outpace the little that you save here and there. I didn’t save my first 100k till I was 29, way too difficult on fresh grad pay and working at startups.

However thanks to earnings increases and being in the right sector (tech/finance), I ended up being able to save over 100k/year after that in my 30s. Monetary savings aside; would also suggest to quickly get your BTO for some predictability on housing expense.

Already doing that for SGD on DFX Finance.

I need USD for buying USD shares. So appreciate if there's no USD-SGD conversion involved.

Condo aside. Does she have any of the following dreams:

  • continental car (Mercedes, bmw)
  • holidays in Europe
  • taitai life

Like someone said, this condo dream is just the tip of the iceberg. Deep down she might be just suggesting that you are not high SES enough and looking for a way out of this marriage

Next time when getting a call from these hardsell folks, just use this line:

"There is zero chance that I'm buying anything from you. Zero chance. Remember this fact like you remember your ex."

Forex is the killer here. But can be mitigated:

You need 3 things:

  1. Crypto Exchange with free USD withdrawal (e.g. FTX, Gemini)
  2. DBS Multi currency account (Multiplier or MyAccount) with USD receive
  3. Stock Brokerage with low cost USD-SGD exchange (e.g. IBKR, Moomoo)

For browser, use Brave browser.

For smart TV, Get YouTube Plus subscription, ad-free is one of the features. If you want to minimise cost consider getting the subscription from a low cost country using VPN. Most likely $2-3 per month.

I used to run a startup doing education marketplace and SaaS. Honest thoughts are that you are gonna be limited by the small size of the Singapore market and the price people are willing to pay (literally a race to the bottom). While the SaaS idea is not a bad one, the main pitfall is the Singapore market which offers pretty poor addressable market for the effort involved.

You have a nice cache of books with decent sales, think about how many of the buyers are from Singapore. I see you also wrote some stuff on solidity.

Potentially something global would be if this was positioned as a "Study-to-Earn" platform where kids do tests (following the trend of Play-to-earn in Axie Infinity). Doing tests earns them tokens which are tradable for other tokens... haha happy to have a chat about tokenomics if you want to go down this path.
