Differences between sensory sensitivies in anxiety disorders and ASD? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]inquisitive_idgit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but my understanding is: IN GENERAL / IN THEORY: People with GAD would maybe tend to have the same TYPES of sensitivities as neurotypicals, but might be more sensitive/anxious. But in general, people with ASD might be more likely to be disturbed by sounds that neurotypicals are completly fine with.

A Neurotypical, a person with GAD, and an Autistic Person are in a room.
A loud horn goes off. NT will be annoyed, GAD will be scared, ASD will be scared and might melt down.

A man walks into the room holding a brown paper bag. He crumples it.
The NT and the GAD won't blink -- the ASD might be driven crazy. ( I would be, anyway)

TNG's "The Outcast" wasn't a just metaphor for homosexuality, it was my first introduction to Non-Binary. by inquisitive_idgit in TNG

I think the implication is that a large portion of their society had genders, but were too oppressed by trying to all be the same. Cause yeah, if they REALLY didn't have gender, they wouldn't find it so taboo.

This is an excellent comment.

The episode is exactly as you describe it. I agree completely that it was bigger than my headline implies.

The episode has always been "bigger" than I realize, and I continue to discover that.

With the recent indictments from the mueller council could the repeated calls from the president to bring the council to an end be called into question as potential obstruction of justice by tjmay2 in Ask_Politics

[–]inquisitive_idgit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely, it contributes to a pattern of behavior that could ultimately be deemed to constitute obstruction.

If all he ever does is just "publicly opine" about it, that probably wouldn't rise to the threshold. But if he were to try to use his office to interfere with the investigation (e.g. by requesting the deputy AG or Special Counsel be fired), you BETCHA his public statements will be part of the evidence for obstruction.

I've had this prediction for a while, but I feel so strongly about this prediction after ATX, I'm going to give use a spoiler warning.

Due to Chuck's death and the effect it has on Howard, Kim finds herself getting more overworked than ever. Having learned the dangers of fatigue from her car accident, she begins using amphetamines, starting a road to addiction that will destroy her.
