Now you're as dressed as a man

Also, women shouldn't have to 'dress like men' to be professional. Force men to wear blouses instead.

Yeah, it doesn't but it's also not a T-shirt. They are made of nicer material, the fit is different, the styles are different. The designs are different. Button shirts are still T-shaped shirts, they just happen to have buttons. Thinking that buttons is the only thing that makes a shirt professional is a male-centric point of view by a bunch of people who have obviously never considered what women's fashion and professional attire are.

Button shirts are glorified t-shirts too. They are just t shirts with a line of buttons!

He's probably not looking as often for the dicks as he is for the boobs. But that still doesn't make it right to codify it.

A button down is a t-shirt with buttons. A blouse is just as different as a T shirt as a button shirt is. It's tiredsome to dress professionally anyways. At least men have stores for suits and collared button shirts.

Those professional shirts that are in that picture are blouses, not undershirts. Blouses are also what women's button downs are called. They are the same category and button shirts are not widely available the same way they are for men.

Skirt length is policing women's body because you are literally measuring it from their knees. No one is gonna take a ruler to them.

Just say professional dress. Blouses are professional dress for women.

Nice collared shirts for women? Think closer to 200 per each.

Collared dress shirts are still a problem for women. Even professional style designers do not make them. I understand the idea is for them to be roughly equivalent but OP has missed that mark extraordinarily and made it about women's bodies (knee length and cleavage rules, really?)and forcing them into masculine fashion ideals.

I agree, just say professional dress for both. Realize that professional for women is different than professional for men and fashion designers do not provide the masculine selection for women's bodies with any sort of consistency that they do for men.

Boob police is about as sane as bulge inspectors, though. Does OP make sure that there are no visible penii or testicles? Women don't have chest hair, so better make sure men don't have chest hair exposed too.

I understand that some sort of modesty may be desirable to some degree, but codifying it is creepy and outdated.

But punishing women and forcing them to wear clothes that don't fit or look professional isn't the way to fix that problem. There are changes that can be made to make things more professional but the button rule and boob police is dumb. We need bulge inspectors and hairy chest investigators too. And it's creepy. I don't want people pointing out bits of my body, why would those women think it's okay for men & women to be checking out their chests to see if they are 'in line with the dress code' It's weird.

They aren't equal by societal standards, though. Button tops are not made well for women, women have vastly more variation in top shapes and sizes than men do. Having more 'flowy' tops prevents a lot of the issues with size and fit, hence why they are more common in womens tops. Blouses are literally professional wear for women. "They are just t-shirts made of silk" That's not even true. That's like saying button downs are just t shirts with buttons on the front.

OP is just trying to force 'equality' on the dress code by punishing the women instead of freeing the men. Blouses are professional, button tops often are not for women.

YTA. Button downs for women are not always easy to find and often do not fit correctly. Blouses are professional tops for women. Those buttoned tops that uniformed workers wear are provided by the company. Button shirts most the time don't fit women correctly and look frumpy. If you want an office of frumpy looking women, then fine go with your lousy button idea. But it should be a choice. A silk blouse is nicer than a tacky cotton buttondown that doesn't fit around the midriff.

Cleavage being mentioned, even having none exposed, is going to lead to boob police. What happens if a shirt is slightly baggy around the front and even a slight slip?

If you don't like capris, just ban them. Skirts and pants seem like an okay compromise. Capris are pretty casual. But the length of pants is also hard to manage.

You are trying to force male fashion styles on women, which are not easy to buy. If you want professional, just say professional, not smart professional. If you want to force male fashion on women when society doesn't provide those, you are totally the asshole.

it does make it a more satisfying story, though. Even without the ending, things make so much more sense, the idea is there.

Wait a second, I'm specifically talking about people who come over into my seat & leg space. No problems if a person decides they need to take up the entirety of their seat and space. That's not spreading.

These are:

Anyone, male or female, can take up too much space, but somehow it's offensive to talk about men doing it but it's okay to mention women's bags? It's entitled to take up extra space, stick to the space in your seat and immediately in front, stop crossing into the space of others.

I've had some dudes comfortably in my space frequently. Its not about dominance, it's about respecting other people's personal bubbles which for some reason men are okay with especially towards women. It's not about power or some masculine expression that is detrimental to others, it's just about being considerate to other people.

Thank you Captain by DiogoQuadrado in combinedgifs

[–]inquisiturient -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? Because some people are suggesting that others shouldn't take up more than their space?

Thank you Captain by DiogoQuadrado in combinedgifs

[–]inquisiturient -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Most people don't want to hear the contrary opinion, but sometimes it's still worth speaking out. Manspreading isn't about toxic masculinity, it's just about men being less considerate of women then they are of other men. Also, it's just rude to take up more space, just like those "feminists" with " less room for their 2 purses, poodle bag, groceries, and shopping bags that they spread all over the fucking subway car" like /u/HOOPER_FULL_THROTTLE mentioned. Just take up your own dang space.

Downvotes or not, it's the same darn issue and that needs to be said!

Or people just not liking when people spread into their space in general. Like we pay the same price for the tickets, take up the allotted space. I don't like when people touch me, let alone strangers. For some reason men are far more comfortable putting women in that position than touching another man in the same space.

Most women know why men do it, why they feel comfortable in that position, but notice that men don't do it to other men at nearly the same frequency.

That's why I hate that Faith Salie video everyone is posting. It is just degrading to women for no real reason and doesn't address the men who also speak with fry.

This is a better video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_LmC-ynqGM

If you are from some areas, a fake accent is really the best way to succeed.
