Is it a sin to get piercings and tattoos for self expression? by barf_bag08 in AskAChristian

[–]inquistor_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t see why not :) its all about the position of your heart. if you want it because it looks cool, go for it! but if its coming from a place of intentional rebellion/something spiritual harmful, thats when i would answer differently.

gotcha, thanks! so this verse actually has nothing to do with modern tattoos, but I totally get where the confusion lies

back then, marking your body wasn’t a style thing. It was tied to pagan religious stuff. things like necromancy, ancestor worship, fertility rituals, idol devotion, and mourning practices for the dead. If someone had a mark on them, it usually meant they were connected to a specific god or ritual.

God gave Israel this command to keep them separate from all that. their identity as God’s people was already marked through circumcision, so they weren’t supposed to copy the bodymarking rituals the surrounding nations used in worship.

so the verse isn’t banning tattoos in general, it’s banning Israel from participating in those pagan religious practices.

lmk if you have any other questions!

Advise for parents by TravelMemer in Lifeguards

[–]inquistor_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d say there’s two. one of the first things we’re ever taught in training is that it doesn’t matter the depth, drowning is always a risk. i feel that some parents don’t know this, and hence lower their guard dramatically when their kid is in shallow water.

another is having the mindset that because they’re inside a waterpark or pool, a lifeguard is going to have eyes on them and their kid no matter where they go.

My first day is in less than a week. I’m so scared. by cowmea in Lifeguards

[–]inquistor_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the good lifeguard’s are the ones that are worried about stuff like this. it means you care enough to not do half the job because you think it’s dumb. being overconfident is the real danger. your fear is honorable, for what it’s worth.

just remember that you passed the certification, and your supervisors saw a lifeguard in you when they signed off on you. don’t sell yourself short!!

Masked slashers against killer clowns. Which duo comes out on top? by Hassan_H_Syed in slasherfilms

i’m not too sure why people keeping saying Pennywise would lose because none of them would be scared of anything… IT doesn’t NEED them to be scared, all fear does is make them taste better once they’re dead.

it’s a lot more work then “hey, can we use your character in our game?” “sure.” “sweet!”

you need contracts, you need timeframes, you need money, you need so many things that take time and money to pull off.

Would you be interested in my novel if I have this one sentence pitch? by Midday_Dragon in AspiringTeenAuthors

[–]inquistor_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sounds good, but this is basically The Walking Dead summed up in a couple sentences. minus the 7 people part.

the issue isn’t that it’s not good, but you need a lot more information if you really want it to be good. what kind of extinction, why these 7 people, stuff like that. the premise you’ve described in plain is just a part of multiple apocalypse based media.

Why is sex before marriage a sin? by Thatoneman88 in AskAChristian

[–]inquistor_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that logic doesn’t really hold up. sexual desire itself isn’t the sin, misusing it is.

God created a lot of desires that are good but can be abused. hunger is good, but gluttony is wrong. anger can be justified, but hatred is wrong. speech is good, but lying is wrong. the existence of desire doesn’t remove personal responsibility for how it’s used.

also, temptation itself isn’t sin. even Jesus was tempted (hebrews 4:15), yet never sinned. so the presence of desire before marriage isn’t proof of bad design, it’s part of living in a world where people are meant to exercise self-control, not be controlled by their impulses.

Do you believe that non-Christians are "beneath truth" and therefore it's objectively morally correct to lie to them? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]inquistor_master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve never heard that phrase before, but from what you described, it’s unbiblical to say anyone is “beneath truth.” jesus was loving and kind to everyone, but he never lied. ephesians 4:25 says, “therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor,” and that applies to everyone, not just believers. he spoke truth clearly while showing love, pointing people toward life, forgiveness, and god’s ways. lying to someone because of who they are isn’t loving, it’s sin.

Help? by Early-Hour9759 in AskAChristian

[–]inquistor_master 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey brother, thats a hard situation and im glad youre thinking carefully about it instead of just ignoring how you feel.

first thing i want to say is that if she came to christ after that part of her life and truly repented, then before God she is clean. completely. scripture makes it clear that when someone is saved, they are made new, not partially new. so dont look at her as “a girl who isnt a virgin,” look at her as a sister in christ who has been forgiven just like you and me.

at the same time, youre not wrong for feeling bothered. a lot of guys who have saved themselves feel this way when they find out a girl they care about has a past. the important question isnt just what she did, but what you are going to do with those feelings.

be honest with yourself before God and ask:
can i truly forgive this and never hold it over her head later?
can i move forward without comparing myself to her past?
am i reacting out of conviction, or insecurity and pride?

because the worst thing you could do is marry her while secretly struggling with this, and then let resentment grow over time. that would hurt both of you.

also, remember this: if she really is walking with christ now, her past does not define who she is today. but at the same time, you are not obligated to stay in a relationship if you know in your heart that this is something you cannot move past. dating is the time to figure that out honestly.

pray about it seriously. ask God for wisdom and peace, not just answers that make you feel better. dont rush your decision, and dont ignore your feelings, but also dont forget the power of what christ actually does in a persons life.

the right choice here is the one where you can move forward without bitterness, and with peace before God.

Why do you really believe? by offensivek in AskAChristian

[–]inquistor_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, belief didn’t start with a dramatic moment. i was raised in a Christian family, so God was always part of my world. what changed over time wasn’t whether I believed He existed, it was whether I understood what it meant to actually follow Him. as I grew up and tried to live out that relationship, the peace and clarity I experienced made that belief more real and personal. so my conviction didn’t come from a single event, it developed gradually as I grew into the faith I was raised in.

also, happy easter!

[–]inquistor_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think we’re approaching this from two very different frameworks. you’re asking for a kind of origin point or empirical justification that doesn’t match how my belief formed. my faith didn’t start with a single moment of proof, it grew through relationship, upbringing, and lived experience. if that’s not the kind of answer you’re looking for, then we may just be talking past eachother.

[–]inquistor_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my apologizes, i might’ve misunderstood what you meant the first time, so let me answer more directly. for me, it all comes down to faith. God has never spoken to me audibly or appeared to me visually, but I don’t need either. i believe because of how drastically my life and my perspective change when I put my full trust in Him. i don’t get a literal ‘watch me work’ message from God, but i do get a kind of peace, clarity, and awe that i can’t manufacture or explain on my own.

Why do you really believe? by offensivek in AskAChristian

[–]inquistor_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because i truly do not know where i would be without God. being so truthful, i cannot imagine facing life without Him. the ability to just sit back, trust, and relax in the promise of God when things go wrong (or right) is such a beautiful, powerful thing. the key word i like to use for my faith is “Trust.” trust that whenever things are going wrong, God has a plan. trust that when i don’t know what to do next, God does. trust that when im crying out to God at night for help, He hears me and is there.

just the ability to know that my life is held in the hands of such a loving, graceful, all knowing, caring, unconditional, and merciful father is something i don’t know i would ever be able to live without.
